Key Features

Rotband finish putty is a dry mix based ongypsum, which includes polymer additives. It is packaged in thick paper bags, the standard weight of which is 20 or 25 kg.

Before you buy putty, you should pay attention to the date of its manufacture. This material has a shelf life of only six months. If the packaging is damaged, the mixture should be used as soon as possible.

The minimum thickness of the applied layer of gypsum putty "Rotband finish" (25 or 20 kg) is 0.2 mm, the maximum allowable is 5 mm. Average material consumption - 0.9–1.1 kg/m2.

This mixture can have different colors and shades: white, pink, gray. This is due to the presence of natural additives in the composition of gypsum rocks. But at the same time, all mixtures have all the quality characteristics declared by the manufacturer.

  4. Dried putty mortar is strong, durable, water resistant, does not crack, does not peel even at high temperature.
  5. This is a "breathable" material that regulates heat and moisture in the room.

Flaws

Putty "Rotband finish" has some disadvantages:

  1. High cost.
  2. The finished solution thickens quite quickly, so it may be inconvenient when working on large areas.
  3. There is some shrinkage.
  4. When mixing the solution, it is recommended to use a respirator. Since this mixture is fine-grained, it can be inhaled.
  5. May change color after drying.
  6. Because the mixture dries quickly, it is difficult to apply a second coat.

How to work with mortar

In order to knead and apply the Rotband Finish putty solution, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • mixing container (you can use a regular bucket);
  • construction mixer;
  • trowels of different sizes and shapes (depending on the object).
  • materials for grinding (grater or sandpaper).

Before you make a batch of putty, preparatory work is carried out. The surface is cleaned of dust, dirt, protruding foreign objects. After that, all metal parts are treated with an anti-corrosion solution. Then the surface is treated with a primer solution. For each type of surface are usedvarious types of primer.

The temperature of the working surface before starting work must be at least 5 ° C.

When all the preparatory work is completed, the mixture is kneaded. It is recommended to prepare the solution in not very large portions. This makes it easier to stir and won't dry out in the bucket.

Putty is poured into a container for mixing and poured with clean water from the following calculation: 0.7 liters of water is needed for 1 kg of this material. According to the instructions, a 20 kg bag needs 13.5 liters of water. A bag of 25 kg is filled with 16.5 liters of water.

After filling with water, the putty is well mixed. First, this is done manually, then with a mixer running at low speeds.

Stir until a homogeneous consistency similar to sour cream is obtained. The temperature in the room should be 10–25 °C. If this rule is not observed, cracks will begin to form on the surface after drying. It is impossible to add extraneous additives or mixtures to the solution. It is also forbidden to use thickened or dried up. It is possible to use ready solution within no more than 1, 5 hours from the moment of kneading. Work is done only with clean spatulas. Putty is applied to the surface, then leveled to the desired thickness. The mortar is leveled with a spatula or with the help of a Swiss falcon and the rule. After work, the tools must be washed.

The putty solution should dry in the absence of drafts and preferably at night.

An unused open bag must be stored on a pallet in a dry place no more thansix months.

Conclusion

Putty "Rotband finish" is the leader in sales in the CIS. Today it can be purchased at almost every hardware store.

Choosing this environmentally friendly and safe material, the buyer gets an almost perfect result after drying: a smooth surface and no cracks.

Due to the fact that the putty dries very quickly, you can significantly reduce the time of repair work.
