Often such a problem arises when the asterisk bolt turns out to be torn off, and how to unscrew it, the person has no idea. And a situation may also arise when it is not possible to unscrew the bolt with a key.

Reasons

There are several reasons for this problem:

  • sticking effect;
  • offset fasteners;
  • hardware hexagon at the time of installation was too tight;
  • Using the wrong size wrench when tightening a bolt.

Whatever the reason, before unscrewing it is necessary to perform preliminary manipulations:

  • bolt fasteners should be treated with kerosene, wd-40 type grease, or brake fluid to reduce friction;
  • tap the sticky bolt with a hammer;
  • heat the bolt with a gas burner to make the metal more malleable and turn dirt and rust into ash.

In order to unscrew the bolt, you can use the following methods:

  • using a grinder or a hacksaw, a clear and neat vertical cut is made across the screw head, you can then unscrew it with a flat screwdriver;
  • using a torx sprocket: you need to hammer it into the head of the hardware, where there is a recess for the hex key, the sprocket should be of such a size that the slots do not pass into its holes, then the hardware is unscrewed with a sharp jerk;
  • using a drill with extractors and drills, drill holes in the center of the hexagon, then the extractor is hammered into it, then with the help of pliers it is pulled out together with the hex screw;
  • a thin hole is drilled with a reverse-rotation drill, then a left-hand drill is inserted into it and the fastener is unscrewed.

More ways

Other methods include:

  1. If the bolt is not too small, you can use a chisel or a regular hammer: they strike at an angle in the direction of unscrewing the fastener.
  2. Using a gas or box wrench.
  3. You can use a socket wrench.
  4. Welding: a little metal with a nut or a piece of reinforcement must be welded to the fastener, with which it is then unscrewed.

The last resort is the complete dismantling of the mount, when notches are made with a hammer and the fastener is disassembled.

The most important thing when working is not to forget about safety. Care should be taken to protect the face, eyes and hands when carrying out the abovemanipulation.
