Today it has become popular to arrange an artificial reservoir on your site. With your own hands, you can create a beautiful pond or a small piece of a river. They will become the central element of your site, in whatever style it is made. But in order to build artificial decorative ponds on your own, you will have to work hard.

The first thing to do is pick a seat. Several factors come into play here. For example, if you want to add a fountain in the form of a cascade of steps to a pond, then you need a hilly area. And for an ordinary pond or a small lake, a flat relief would be ideal. Naturally, you should take into account the size of your site, and, accordingly, the size of the reservoir. Pay attention to the plants that will surround it. If there are many large shrubs or trees next to it, then there is a high probability of frequent clogging of the water tank. It is desirable that the territory be more open, then in the waterthere will be less debris, which means that cleaning will have to be done much less often.

The second stage is the choice of material from which an artificial pond will be built with your own hands. Today, a wide variety of special forms of tanks are produced, and the material from which they are made is very different. They can be made of reinforced plastic, fiberglass, butyl rubber or PVC. Having picked up the form, you can proceed to its installation. To do this, you need to dig a hole. You remove the vegetation layer on the site, install the bowl and, with the help of sand, outline the contours of the pit and its deep zones. Now, according to these marks, a corresponding hole is being dug. Please note that it should be 10 cm larger than the tank on all sides. Sand is poured into the bottom and compacted well, then the tank is installed. Now you should fill the space between it and the walls of the pit. You can do this with wet sand. But to shrink faster, fill this space 1/3 with water, and then fill it with sand, and the water will gradually rise to the very top.

It is quite possible to build an artificial reservoir with your own hands without a ready-made form. Preparation takes place, as in the first version. A pit is dug, the bottom is covered with a layer of sand 15 cm thick. Now the entire pit is covered with an insulating film - so that its edges protrude well beyond the pit. Good elasticity of the film can be given if before that it is spread for some time in the sun. To film thoroughlyto fix, you need to make a ditch of 15 cm around the entire perimeter of the reservoir, lay the edges of the film in it and fix it with stones or gravel.

Now you can fill reservoirs with water, install a filter, a fountain pump and decorate the coastal zone. For example, you can lay out with natural boulders a kind of rim framing an artificial reservoir with your own hands (a photo of such a pond demonstrates all the natural beauty of such a decor). And if you want to use more vegetation, then lay mats made from coconut fiber along the coastline. They will help the plants take root. Choose beautiful and vibrant plants that prefer moist soil. It can be bulrush, fern, arrowhead, pampas grass, reed, yellow iris, marsh calla or marigold. And, of course, what kind of artificial reservoir, built with your own hands, will do without lilies? They become the main decoration of any pond. And in the end, you can put fish or even turtles there.
