In order for rugosa rose to look well-groomed, bear fruit and bloom well, it needs to be cut regularly. It is clear that this work is time-consuming and unpleasant due to the prickly nature of the shoots, but this must be done.
After planting, the bush is not touched for two years. In the third year, all weak and ground shoots should be removed, the rest should be cut off at a height of 20 cm. When new ones appear on them and grow to 70 cm, they need to pinch the tops. This will encourage fruiting and cause side branches to grow.
