Terracotta mix is one of the few materials that is based on environmentally friendly ingredients. The composition of this finished product contains substances such as kaolin clay and sand, as well as fireclay. It has excellent resistance to heat. Withstands temperatures up to 1300 degrees Celsius. However, there is a small drawback - a large amount of time required for the solidification of the substance.

Rules for the use of mixtures "Terracotta"

There are a few rules to follow when using ready-made products from this category:

  1. After the finished product has already frozen, kneading it again is already prohibited.
  2. It is important to remember that "Terracotta" mixtures are made on the basis of kaolin clay, without the use of cement, because the life of the solution is not limited. Once thickened, simply add water and mix thoroughly.
  3. Subsequent laying of the furnace from this substance should be carried out at a temperature not lower than 5 degrees.
  4. Pre-mixes use various kinds of plasticizers to prevent the mortar from drying out too quickly. On the one hand, this eliminates the possibility that the finished surface will begin to crack, and on the other hand, it increases the time required for drying. In addition, it is possible to warm up an oven made using Terracotta mixtures no earlier than three days after laying out.
  5. There are also ready-made mixtures for arranging chimneys. They are specially marked.
  6. It is important to know that lining a stove built using ready mixes can only be done 20-30 days after it has started to be used effectively.
  7. A slight inconvenience may be that after the first fire of such a furnace, efflorescence will appear on its walls. However, they can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Wash them after the oven has cooled down.

Benefits of ready mixes

Heat-resistant mixture "Terracotta" is a dry mortar, which is intended for laying objects that will subsequently be subject to heat. This solution is made using classical furnace technology. The composition of such a mixture includes kaolin clay, dried and crushed, as well as fireclay (ceramic) chips. The temperature that this mixture can withstand is 1300 degrees Celsius. It is important to know that the mortar gains strength only when it is fired. And this means that after the completion of all masonry processes, it is necessary to wait 48 hours. After this period, it is necessary to melt the furnace to a temperature of 200-250C and maintain the combustion process in this state for up to 5-6 hours. In order to avoid such inconvenience as shedding of the mixture after masonry, experts recommend decorative plastering or lining the furnace.
