After that, both it and the wedge often have to be looked for in the grass and the tool has to be reassembled. Therefore, it is much more reliable to use an ordinary bolt with a nut and a concave washer to connect parts.

To do this, you need to take two birch rods about 15-18 cm long, 2.5-3 cm in diameter and process them with a large sandpaper. Then, special recesses are made at one of their ends so that in the future they fit snugly enough around the cutting. After that, a thin steel strip is taken and rods are attached to it on both sides. Then everything is simple - with the resulting one-piece element they go around the handle and tie the rods with twine or wire so that the handle is held on it as tightly as possible.
It would seem that the tool is quite simple - a manual scythe for mowing grass. However, you may not be able to use it the first time. In order to do everything right, it is necessary, taking the braid in your hands, to place your legs so that the distance between the feet is approximately 40 cm. The braid moves along the arc of the intended circle. At one time, you should not capture more than 15 cm of grass. Pass the mowed field in rows so that the fallen grass remains on the left. Emphasis is placed on the "heel" of the braid, while the tip of the cutting panel should look slightly up. They try to keep the knife as close to the ground as possible.
Hand scythe for grass - a tool quite convenient and reliable. For its use, there is no need for electricity on the site or the purchase of expensive gasoline. All you need is to beat it from time to time. The difficulty here is only in the duration of the process. Sharpening the cloth in this way is quite simple, but you should not try to do this without experience. You can just damage the knife. It is better to entrust the matter to a specialist.
Handmade grass scythe also requires periodic sharpening during the mowing process. Therefore, in the field you need to take a whetstone with you. As soon as you feel that the grass "takes" worse, run it several times over the blade. Be careful when doing this - a sharp scythe is enough to injure your fingers.
