Drywall is a versatile and multifunctional material that has a number of positive qualities, due to which it is widely used in wall and ceiling decoration. It bends well when wetted with water, the sheets are easy to cut in any direction, which allows them to give almost any shape. Designers today bring to life a wide variety of ideas for surface finishing with the help of original and beautiful figures from this material. In this article, we will look at how to make a flower on a plasterboard ceiling with your own hands.

Even with no experience, this rather complex design can be made by yourself. It will not only look beautiful, decorating the room, but will also replace the usual chandelier, since you can easily build lamps into drywall. This will create spectaculardifferences in light, which will look very original and stylish in a multi-level design.

Flower-shaped plasterboard ceiling

This design is a rather complicated decor, but it can transform the interior of the room as a whole and make it original and unique. The figure in the form of a flower on the plasterboard ceiling is suitable for almost any room: nursery, bedroom, living room.

When planning, choosing the size and shape of the structure, it is necessary to take into account the height of the room. If the ceilings are low enough, then it is undesirable to make a volumetric large-scale structure. It will visually press, hanging over your head, which will create inconvenience. But this idea should not be completely abandoned. In this case, you just need to reduce the size, making the figure less bulky.

The most impressive and beautiful look large structures that have several levels, resulting in a three-dimensional look. But the room must have sufficiently high ceilings and a large area for this, otherwise the figure will not look very good.

If the room is not more than 2, 3-2, 5 meters high, then it is best to mount a flat structure with openwork design. Curved petals also look good, the number of which depends on the area allotted for the flower.

If the ceiling in the room is low, it is unreasonable to place volumetric elements there. The flower can simply be cut out of a drywall sheet and glued. In this case, you need to try to choose the original color scheme, thereby compensating for the lack of volume.

When choosing the shape of a flower on a plasterboard ceiling, you must remember that rounded petals, like those of a rose or chamomile, look much better in small rooms.

For spacious rooms with high ceilings, the best solution is flowers with a sharp shape at the end. In such premises, any volumetric structures are suitable. A rose with several tiers of drywall or chamomile petals looks great. For a child's room, you can choose a flower with a small amount of petals.

Before you start making a frame or give the scope of work to specialists who will mount the decoration, you should find a picture on the Web. It is necessary to carefully study the shape of the flower yourself and show the plasterboard ceilings in the form of a flower to the workers.

Creating a structure

The following steps must be followed in sequence:

  1. Find or develop your own sketch, which indicates the size of the structure. Artistic talent and spatial imagination are important here. You can even come up with your own version of the petals.
  2. Transfer the image to the plastered surface and plasterboard base.
  3. Install frame from profile.

Creating markup

Having chosen a suitable design, they begin to create a sketch of the future flower on the plasterboard ceiling. All drawings and markings are more convenient to draw on the floor.

Basicpart of almost any flower is a circle. But due to the large size, it is impossible to draw it with a compass. Therefore, it is worth applying a little trick - tie a thread and a button to the pencil. Push the button into the center of the circle, pull the rope and draw an even circle. If you have a suitable object on hand, you can use it as a stencil.

To create a rose, you need to complete three circles. Each of them should be exactly one third smaller in diameter than the previous one. Also the edges of these three circles should have carved edges. Having created a drawing on paper, it must be transferred to the surface of the ceiling.

Transfer drawing to ceiling

After creating a drawing on paper, it must be transferred to the surface of the ceiling. Do this in several stages:

  1. A drawing of a flower is created on paper, observing the scale.
  2. If the place where the flower will be located has not yet been chosen, it is drawn on paper and applied to the ceiling scheme. Places where the figure looks best are marked. If you have a computer, this can be done in a special program. So much more convenient and faster.
  3. All this is transferred to the surface of the ceiling. If it was decided to make a rose, then you just need to draw the largest circle of the three that make up the flower. This is where the installation will take place. If a flower of more complex shapes was chosen, its image can be transferred to the ceiling using a coordinate grid. Points are put down by coordinates and connected by lines, creatingthus the outlines of the future flower on the plasterboard ceiling.

Let's take a look at a few more ways of marking.

Apply by hand

Very often, masters make a freehand sketch of a flower on a plasterboard ceiling. Needless to say, this requires the ability to hold a pencil correctly and talent. Asymmetric contours can be easily drawn with your own hands. Asymmetry is a fairly common design technique. It all depends on the idea, desire and skills.

Marking with a projector

There is another new and progressive way - connecting the projector to a computer or laptop and pointing it at the ceiling. Then the contours of the figure are outlined. This option is well suited for high rooms, as it is quite difficult to project a silhouette in a room with low ceilings without distortion.

Installing the frame

To make a base for a future drywall flower on the ceiling, the photo of which is presented above, use the same materials that are used in the assembly of drywall structures.

To create a figure with rounded edges, you need to prepare a metal profile. Cuts are made on it and bent into the desired shape.

For work you will need:

  • Galvanized profile: rail and rack. To create curvilinear shapes, it is better to use an arched one, but if there is none, a regular one will do.
  • "Fleas" forfastenings of metal parts, "crabs" and direct suspensions, press washers and dowel-nails.
  • Gypsum board sheets. Since parts of the flowers will have to be bent, it is advisable to purchase a flexible material, but you can also use a regular wall.
  • Tool set: screwdriver, grinder, puncher and metal shears.
  • For finishing: serpyanka, putty, paints of different colors (often they make drywall ceilings in two colors or even more).

Assembling the frame for a flower

If a three-dimensional structure is planned, then guide profiles are initially mounted by using dowel-nails. In turn, rack profiles are fixed to them, which are cut to the desired size. This design is completed by a circular strapping made of an arched lath bent according to the desired figure.

If there is no arched profile, you can use a regular guide or rack. Cuts are made on them with metal scissors in the form of the Latin letter V. Then the rail is bent and mounted to the frame on press washers or "fleas".

These profiles are additionally mounted on direct suspensions. On the ceiling, they are fixed with dowels. For the rigidity of the frame at the intersection, the metal parts are fastened with "crabs".

During the installation of the frame, wiring for lighting is also mounted. To fix overall and heavy chandeliers or lamps, a special additional mount is provided, which is held on the main ceiling. ATThe result should be a structure strong enough to support significant weight.

Sheathing the structure with drywall

Sheets of drywall are pre-marked on the floor, then cut along the contour with a clerical knife. Having cut through the drywall on both sides, the desired part is broken off, after which the edges are leveled with a planer or the same blade.

Each element is alternately fixed to the base of the frame, using black self-tapping screws, the length of which is 25 mm. They are not pressed very hard into the surface, so that they do not protrude beyond the cut of the cap and do not interfere with further finishing. Holes are cut under the spotlights where the wiring is led out. The assembled plasterboard structure is being prepared for final finishing.

Flat frameless plasterboard flowers on the ceiling with your own hands

As noted earlier, such products are used to decorate small rooms with low ceilings. First of all, the desired flower is drawn on a sheet of drywall according to the sketch. It is advisable to break it into separate parts: the core and the petals. Make markings on the ceiling where the assembly will be made. Fastening is carried out using self-tapping screws.

If the room has a false ceiling, then it is necessary that the screws are screwed directly into the frame rails. All attachment points and joints are sealed with gypsum putty, the surface is leveled.

When assembling a drywall structure, you should consider what lighting will be. Fasteners are added for lighting fixtures, and holes are required for spotlights.

Finishing work

Glue the joints with a special paper tape or sickle. Any of these materials is fixed by applying a thin layer of plaster mixture. In addition, a small amount of putty coats the attachment points.

Stucco corners are glued onto the edges of the figure using a plaster mixture. On bends, an arched ordinary corner with cut sides is used. The entire surface of the flower is primed and plastered.

After drying, decorative plaster, paint or other selected materials are applied. So, we looked at how to make a drywall flower on the ceiling. It does not take too much time to create the simplest design from such a material. Although this process is quite laborious, it is not very difficult.
