Beautiful and original design of the site will appeal to every gardener, especially if he loves a large number of flowers. Many people like multi-tiered flower beds, which always look original and unusual. In addition, in most cases, such a structure can be built from improvised materials.
Basic rules
Any multi-tiered composition requires a careful approach regarding the selection of colors. We offer the simplest rules, thanks to which your flower bed will look harmonious on the site:
- The background plays an important role: it should be a passive green hue. Florists recommend decorating multi-tiered flower beds with a hedge or parterre lawn.
- Flowers in the composition should be of contrasting shades or, conversely, the same color scheme, but tackiness should be avoided.
- The shape and size of the inflorescences matter. For example, within the same tier, the flowers should be the same size. An interesting option is to plant smaller plants on each subsequent tier. The main thing is that all varieties grow approximately the same amount of time.
- Selected flowers must be resistant to moisture, that ismoisture-loving, since when it rains, all the water will drain to the lower tiers. So the lowest layer should be formed from plants that need abundant watering.
From what to make multi-tiered flower beds so that they look harmonious on the site? It is worth remembering that whatever option is chosen, the main thing is to mark the territory and think over a sketch of the future structure, taking into account the materials and colors that should be planted.
From stones
A flowerbed made of stones can become a picturesque element of the landscape design of the territory. It is made from sandstone, limestone, shale, pebbles or volcanic tuff. In the form of various geometric patterns, you can lay out a brick composition.
Brick flower beds are built in random order or laid out with an original geometric pattern. The brick can be anything: white silicate or red ceramic. Raised multi-tiered flower beds look good on the site when a brick wall rises at a height of 30 cm to one meter. This flower arrangement is easy to make. For example, in the form of an unusual staircase that is attached to the house. First, compartments are made, the bottom of which is filled with rubble, sand or construction waste - these materials serve as drainage. Then black soil is poured on top, where mineral organic fertilizers are added. After careful compaction, the flower bed is planted with flowers.
From wood
Traditional for the design of a summer cottage can be consideredwooden multi-tiered flower beds. The photo shows how diverse solutions make this material a reality. So, on the basis of wooden cuts of the same length and diameter, you can lay out a rectangular or square flower bed.

Rubber tires are liked by many flower growers, as on their basis you can build a variety of flower beds, including multi-tiered flower beds with your own hands. Ladder

- a simple staircase of several tiers is knocked together from boards of a suitable size;
- it needs to be attached at about a 45 degree angle to the wall;
- pots with flowers or special boxes are placed on each tier;
- to protect the structure from external influences, you can cover it with varnish or paint.
Multi-tiered flower beds are easy to make based on flower pots of different sizes. So, the largest pot in diameter will serve as the basis of the composition. On top of it, in turn, smaller and smaller ones are placed. A beautiful multi-tiered composition is also created on the basis of plastic containers that are stacked in the form of a pyramid.
What plants?
Multi-tiered flower beds are modern, fresh and original. But making them is not so easy in the sense that you need to be able to pick flowers. The basic rules for choosing plants for such designs are as follows:
- Dark flowers are below light colors.
- Plants should bloom at the same time.
- The bottom tier should have flowers that are resistant to moisture, as this is where it will drain from above.
Multi-tiered flower beds in the country, the photos of which convey all the riot of colors, can be created on the basis of a number of flowers: petunias, garden geraniums, or pelargoniums, marigolds, pansies, various types of begonias, undersized marigolds.
To decorate the lower tier of the flower bed, you need to use unpretentious flowers that will not be demanding either for care or for the effects of the external environment. Among them are garden chamomile, primrose, daylily, dicentra, astilba.
