Water wells are designed to install equipment such as taps, valves, fire hydrants. As a rule, they are made of precast concrete, less often of brick. They come in different sizes and shapes.
Reinforced concrete structures
Water well can be either round or rectangular. It is made for pipes from the following materials:
- reinforced concrete;
- brick and concrete.
Round structures have the following dimensions: 1000, 1500, 2000 mm. To all the listed dimensions, a diameter of 1250 mm is also added if there is a brick in the structure. The maximum size of the well, which has a rectangular shape, is 4500x4000m.
The water well consists of a reinforced concrete slab, which is installed on compacted soil. A prerequisite is the horizontal position of the plate, otherwise the structure of the rings will not stand. A sleeve should be installed at the point where the pipe is cut into the well, if it is made of PVC. This must be done in case of settlement of the well so that there is no breakthrough.
Water wellplaced depending on the depth of the pipes. At the top of the structure, a ring with a hatch is installed and the neck is laid out with a brick. Much attention is paid to high-quality external waterproofing and proper drainage system. Usually the blocks are coated on the outside with bitumen, but this method is a bit outdated.
Constructing a water well, new materials for waterproofing are adopted. RubberElast tape or rope (hemp, jute or linen) can be used. The rope does not need to be impregnated with bitumen, but can be smeared with Kiilto Fiberpool fiber rubber. This is a special mastic that is used as waterproofing.
Polyethylene tanks
An alternative to a concrete structure is a plastic water well, the price of which is much less. Polymer systems are becoming increasingly popular due not only to cost, but also to the reliability of the material.
Welded plastic tanks, depending on the functions performed, are divided into:
- inspection;
- rainstorm;
- sedimentary;
- for locking equipment;
- for measuring instruments.
Plastic counterparts compared to reinforced concrete structures have the following advantages:
- displacement due to groundwater excluded;
- installation of the structure is accelerating;
- light weight;
- low thermal conductivity of the material;
- durability;
- impact resistance;
- resistance tomechanical damage;
- frost resistance;
- non-corrosive;
- large selection of designs.
Such systems are also popular because the installation of water wells can be done independently. Welded tanks are manufactured at the factory. An order can be made in advance, and the system will be made exactly according to it. The tightness in this case will be much higher. Additional accessories may be included with these products.
The arrangement of a sealed chamber for water supply is also quite convenient, since the system works under pressure.
