Very often containers are used to transport different types of cargo. This is the name of a standard container that can be used repeatedly, and a variety of types of goods are allowed to be transported in it.
To be able to choose the most suitable option for moving a particular cargo, these products are produced in different sizes and shapes. The height of containers and their width most often have standard indicators, and the length can be any. For non-standard cargoes that need to be transported in specific conditions, specialized types of container products are produced.
Different product data and purpose. There are containers for auto, railway and sea transport.
Containers for maritime transport: types
5-, 6-, 8-, 10-foot and larger container products are available, but the most popular is the 20-foot container. Sizes:
- Length - 6.06 m.
- Width - 2.44 m.
- Height - 2.59 m.
- Internal volume - 33.2 m3.
- Carrying capacity - 22 tons.
Remarkably, sea containers are muchlarger payloads have almost the same overall dimensions of height and width with a much greater length. For example, the dimensions of a 45-foot container are 13.71 x 2.43 x 2.89 m, and a 53-foot container is 16.15 x 2.59 x 2.89 m.
Special types
There are several types of container containers of this type:
- Products with passive ventilation. They are produced to transport coffee, which is why they are also called coffee containers.
- Ventilated. Each of them is equipped with a mechanical fan and ventilation holes. The ventilated type 20ft container is 6.06 x 2.35 x 2.59m.
- Heat-insulated. Another name is isothermal. A special type of container, which has a double skin of the hull. Thanks to a layer of thermally insulating material located between the skin, the original temperature is maintained inside for a long time. A similar 20-foot container body dimensions are as follows: length - 6.05 m, height - 2.44 m, width - 2.59 m.
- Refrigerated. Belong to the thermally insulated type of container. They are equipped with refrigeration units to maintain the desired air temperature. Products without refrigeration units are connected in the terminal or on the ship to the cooling line. Accordingly, these can be products for both land and sea transportation. The thermally insulated sea 20-foot container has the same dimensions as for land transportation - 6.0 x 2.59 x 2.43 m.
- Bulk container. This is the name of the specialcontainers designed for the transportation of any bulk cargo. Usually it is a standard 20ft container. Sizes 6.06 x 2.44 x 2.59.
In addition, tank containers, automobile, through, open, with a removable roof, Pallet wide, platform container and other types of containers are produced.
Features and Specifications
For the manufacture of 20-foot container products, steel profile sheets are used. Before starting assembly work, the sheets are treated with anti-corrosion spraying. This approach makes it possible to ensure both the safety of the container itself and the preservation of the integrity of the cargo inside, both when moving by sea and by land.
To increase the strength of the floor, it is reinforced with steel beams, and then covered with wood flooring. Because of this, the 20-foot container has a slightly smaller interior, but its strength increases significantly.
