What is a faucet, even those who do not understand plumbing at all know. Like all other plumbing elements, it can break, rot, wear out over time, which means that any owner should be able to at least replace a used faucet with a new one.
Choose mixer
When choosing a unit, pay attention to the characteristic features. First of all, take it in your hands - a quality mixer should not be light, because it is the thickness of the metal that determines the service life of this product. Directly the material of manufacture, as a rule, is silumin or brass. Brass products have an impressive appearance and a high degree of protection against corrosion. This is also the reason for the higher price compared to low-quality silumin counterparts. Installing a faucet in the bathroom or in the kitchen assumes the quality of the unit for at least the next few years, so it is not recommended to save on quality here.
As for faucet models, the following types are currently available for sale:
- Single lever - classic with one lever. The water temperature is controlled by movementsright-left, pressure - up and down movements.
- Double-valve - classic mixer with two valves - for cold and hot water.
- Contactless - As the name suggests, contact with the device is not required to turn on the water. At the heart of its action is an infrared sensor that detects the approach of the hand to the tap. Installation of this type of faucet is used only for washstands.
- Touch, which is controlled by touch buttons located on a special panel.
The installation of a new faucet, of course, is preceded by the dismantling of the old device. It is necessary to turn off the water, after which, carefully, so as not to spoil the thread on the fitting in the wall, unscrew the old mixer. We carefully clean the fitting from the remnants of the old winding and debris.
Next, the installation of the mixer begins directly. We wind the eccentrics, screw them into the fittings in the wall. We screw them in using a level, however, if the distance between the inputs is still violated, the eccentrics will help to get the desired 150 mm.
Next, you need to try on the main mixer unit to the eccentrics, try to wind it. If both sides lie down without problems, the eccentrics are installed correctly - you can remove the block and install decorative shades. If they fit snugly against the wall, this is another indicator that the faucet is being installed correctly.
It remains only to tighten the block. Which-or the winding material in this case does not need to be used, the standard gaskets inside the clamping nuts are quite enough. The nuts themselves should creak a little during tightening. The installation of the mixer is now complete. You can turn on the water supply again and try the device.
As you can see, installing a mixer with your own hands is a process that everyone can do without outside help. Good luck in your work!
