The mesh (sleeve) filter performs the function of retaining mechanical impurities and filtering the working environment, in particular, water. A special mesh is installed in the body. Through this grid, cleaning is carried out.
Mesh filters distinguish:
1. According to the degree of purification. They are fine filtration and coarse (the so-called mud collectors). Mud collectors are often used in boiler houses and for filtering water from natural sources, being the first stage of water treatment before high-tech treatment plants.
2. Washing method. There is a mesh filter self-washing, flushing and non-washing.
3. By the method of accession to the pipeline. Products can be threaded or flanged (flanged mesh filter).
Flush type filters, in turn, can be backflushed and disc type. For domestic needs in residential premises, the best option is a mesh filter with washing or backwashing.
The mechanism of operation of the considered devices is similar to the principle of operation of cartridge-type products. During the cleaning process, impurities are retained in the grid, and clean water is supplied to the consumer. The mesh washing filter differs from the cartridge filter in that the cartridge is washed, but does not change. In addition, for flushing it is not necessary to disassemble the mechanism case. Subject to the rules of operation, taking into account all the features of the treated water, the mesh filter works without replacing the mesh for up to two years.
Flush-type cleaning products include a drain hole. It is located at the bottom of the device. The drain hole is opened and closed with a ball valve. A drain fitting is fixed to it, to which a flexible hose is connected. In the process of washing the device, the ball valve opens, part of the water, going into the drainage, washes away all the mechanical impurities that have deposited on the grid. Most cleaning filters provide a continuous supply of purified water while flushing.
To extend the service life after five or six washes, it is recommended to disassemble the flask for a more thorough cleaning. To do this, it is allowed to use a brush, which will help eliminate mechanical impurities, dirt particles that get stuck in the grid cells.
The mesh filter for hot water is made entirely of metal. In devices designed to purify cold water, the flask is usually transparent.
The mesh filter with backwash has a slightly different principle of operation. Its essence boils down to the fact that when washing the mesh, water not only washes away mechanical impurities, as happens in simple washing filters, but also cleans the cells. This is achieved by directing the water, reverse filtering. As a result, all mechanical particles stuck in the cells are pushed out. A modern backwash strainer includes a liner divided into two parts. The large (lower) part of the liner is involved in the process of water purification.
