Our entire civilization is built on electricity, and its "conductors" - sockets and switches - are in almost every apartment. Their initial location in the apartment suits far from everyone, so it will not be superfluous to find out exactly how the installation of sockets is carried out with your own hands.

In fact, as you will soon see for yourself, there is nothing super complicated in this work, the main thing is accuracy and safety.

The first rule, which must not only be remembered, but memorized by heart - never install sockets and switches with the wiring connected! Before starting work, be sure to cut off the electricity in the apartment!

Choose the place where you will install the sockets. Ideally, they should be located as close as possible to the electrical appliances that you are going to turn on. If you plan to install outdoor outlets, then you will not have to do any additional work, but installing indoor outlets will require additional tools and effort.

You will need:

  • drill and crown of the desired diameter;
  • screwdrivers (flat, Phillips and tester);
  • knife;
  • pencil;
  • socket and box for it.

Mark the place on the wall where you plan to install the sockets in drywall, attach the installation box to it and circle its outline with a pencil. If you do not have a drill with a suitable diameter crown, then cut out the desired circle with a knife. This is not difficult to do, since drywall is a rather soft material.

Pull the wires into the box and insert it into the cut hole. Then fix it to the wall with screws. It should sit tightly in its intended place and not “play”, otherwise the socket will loosen and subsequently fall out of the wall.

The main part of the work is done. Now it remains only to connect the wires. Turn off the electricity. This can be done either from the corridor, if the meter is installed there, or directly from the apartment. If the meter is still of the old type, then simply unscrew the plugs, and in the new one it is enough to throw the toggle switch. Before proceeding with the connection, be sure to check the presence of current in the network with a test screwdriver.

There shouldn't be any problems with two wires. You simply strip them of insulation with a knife and connect them to any terminals. But if you need to connect three wires, then you need to be more careful, since one of them is the "ground". It is best to strip the wires by five centimeters, twist the stripped wires into a ring and put them directly on the terminals. Such a connection is considered more reliable, moreover, due to the larger wire contact area.will heat up less.

Insert an already connected socket into the box and tighten the side tabs with a screwdriver. They should securely fix it in the box. Adjust the location of the outlet so that it is level in the wall, fix the front panel, and you can consider the installation finished.

Now you can safely turn on the light in the apartment and connect the electrical appliances you need to the outlet. As you can see, the installation of sockets does not require any special knowledge and skills at all, and anyone can do it.
