The diamond pencil belongs to the category of dressing tools and has a high level of wear resistance. This device is intended for final grinding of the surface to be processed. It can be used for internal, flat and centerless grinding. The diamond pencil can be equipped with natural or synthetic stones, which are fixed in a metal bond.
Composition of the diamond pencil
For dressing, a device with a diameter of 8-10 millimeters is usually used. The diamond pencil has managed to gain the most distribution as a tool designed for these purposes. It contains diamond crystals placed in a certain order, which are interconnected by a special material. It is made in the form of a special alloy with a thermal expansion coefficient close to that of diamonds. This feature allows you not to expose the stonesadditional deformation when heated.
Diamond pencil for dressing circles: varieties
Basically, several types of this device are used. They differ depending on how the diamond crystals are located in the working part, and also what characteristics they have:
- type C - diamonds in this case are arranged in a chain;
- type C - stones are placed in layers that may or may not overlap;
- type H - diamonds in this case are not oriented.
In addition, a diamond pencil may belong to different brands depending on the mass and number of stones used in it, as well as on the size of the frame and insert.
Features of each species
Crystals with different weights are used for the production of each type of device. Diamond pencil for editing type C is made of high quality stones, weighing 0.03-0.5 carats each. Their field of application is the dressing of wheels for centerless shaped and internal, as well as cylindrical grinding. Type C pencil is produced in two grades. The former are fine-grained, in which the number of small diamond grains is up to 10 in one layer. The second type is fine-grained, here there are 2-5 stones per layer with a carat of 0, 1-0, 2. Such a diamond pencil has increased wear resistance, and it is used for dressing abrasive wheels in the process of fine grinding. Type H devices are made from stones of different qualities, sometimes even from chipped and crushed ones. The scope of application of such pencils is the dressing of grinding wheels with a fine-grained structure in centerless and cylindrical grinding operations, as well as a dressing tool for cup, single thread thread grinding and flat wheels for spline and gear grinding.
Due to the dressing of circles using diamond pencils, it is possible to obtain a high accuracy of the working surface, to determine the shaped profile, which makes it possible to achieve much more accurate sharpening of the working tool, as well as higher labor productivity.
