Rectangular pipes on the rolled metal market are produced in several ways.
To obtain seamless rectangular products, round pipes are used as blanks. They are rolled in a cold or hot state, and the output is a cold- or hot-worked product.
The next type are electric-welded pipes (rectangular steel). They are bent on special equipment, and then welded with a straight seam. The first in the list of materials of this type is the smallest pipe, the outer dimensions of which are 15 by 10 millimeters. The wall thickness varies from 1 to 2 mm. The largest representative of shaped rectangular pipes is a product 180 by 150 mm (with a wall thickness of 8 to 14 mm).
Materials are also made with special dimensions, which, with a wall thickness of 8 mm, reach "dimensions" of 230 by 100 mm.

State standards provide for 2 accuracy classes (normal and high) that a rectangular pipe can have.
Products are made from carbon steel of ordinary quality, while their mechanical properties are normalized (group A). In addition, the material is made of high-quality steel (group B). In the second case, the mechanical characteristics and chemical composition of steel are normalized.
Standards also impose requirements on the surface quality that a rectangular pipe should have. These criteria are very strict, so the material is made durable and of high quality.
