Building nails are the simplest of all fasteners. No building is complete without them. A variety of shapes and sizes of nails allows you to choose the most suitable options. This is one of the most ancient fasteners, as it has been used by man since time immemorial. Archaeologists have found nails that belonged to the bronze culture. These are forged and cast specimens. Later, iron or copper wire was used in the manufacture of nails. Until the beginning of the 19th century, all fasteners were made by hand. Then special machines for making nails from wire were invented.
Today, building nails are made from different wires, different sections, diameters and lengths. All of them apply in one way or another. To make the fastening reliable and durable, you should carefully choose nails, because if they are not used for their intended purpose, the fasteners will soon loosen up and make themselves felt.
Depending on the design and material, construction nails can be used for fixing the most common wooden boards or for attachingof a certain design to a reinforced concrete base. It is very difficult to imagine construction work without the use of nails. When laying plank floors, you can’t do without these fasteners; in the manufacture of wooden stairs, you can’t do without nails either. They are used for fastening skirting boards, mounting door frames and windows. You can talk about where construction nails are used for a very long time. However, they are all designed for different loads.
Roofing nails are one of the varieties of nails. They are used for attaching metal sheets, soft roofing or corrugated board to wood. These fasteners come with a flat smooth head and are made of mild steel.
Standard building nails are made from steel wire or from steel that has not been heat treated. They are marked with two numbers that indicate the diameter and length of the rod. Hats are different, they can be both smooth and corrugated. On some nails, it is possible to apply a notch to the rod. It is needed for a stronger and stronger connection of structures. Serif nails are used when it is necessary to fasten boards of different woods.
There are also construction nails that are used only for certain purposes. This type of fasteners include square nails, with a double or L-shaped hat. With a double head, they can be used when working with formwork. They can be very easily pulled out with a nail puller, yesand they clog quite easily. With L-shaped hats, they can be used as hooks, and so that they do not scroll, a special notch is provided. It is these nails that are needed if the part only needs to be attached to the base, but not pierced through it.
All nails used in construction can be either galvanized or non-galvanized. The second ones will last a relatively short time, so they are recommended to be used only for temporary fastening. In all other cases, it is better to choose galvanized nails.
