The presence of glass elements in the furniture design makes it light. When using light transparent doors or furniture inserts, designers manage to turn the most daring ideas into reality. Fittings are a key element in the construction of furniture, windows and doors. There is no way to do without this constructive element. How else would windows, cabinet doors and bedside tables open? Regardless of the type of facade opening, the functional existence of a piece of furniture is impossible without the presence of fittings.

What is furniture fittings?
Hinges for glass are similar in technology to furniture fixtures for chipboard panels, but some design differences are still inherent.
The design of furniture fittings consists of four elements:
- mounting plate attached to the end of the product;
- selfholder;
- seal - a special ring that connects the material and fastening (the gasket is clamped between two parts: the facade and the holder itself);
- special plugs placed on top of the mount, thanks to which the design looks aesthetically.

The peculiarity of such fittings lies in its fastening mechanism: thanks to the hinged base, the door can be placed in any position and at any angle of inclination. The only nuance that causes inconvenience is the difficulty of drilling a hole for a loop with a diameter of 26 mm at home. This is a technically complex process consisting of several stages. If the drilling technology is neglected, the glass can easily burst.
Four-hinged hinges for glass are:
- invoices;
- domestic;
- half overhead;
- diagonal (used for mounting at an angle of 45o).
Installation of hinges for glass is carried out complete with a sheer bar, which is screwed onto self-tapping screws (4 x 16) to the wall of a piece of furniture. For fastening, it is recommended to use material with a thickness of at least 5 mm.
On the market there are only two types of plugs and rings for fittings:some are in the shape of a semicircle, others are round. Every detail is chrome or matt. The buyer can only choose the set of parts that suits him perfectly.
In the production of furniture, internal and overhead fasteners are mainly used. The required number and dimensions of glass loops are calculated based on such parameters as its weight and area. When mounting fasteners, do not forget that the more fittings, the more difficult it will be to adjust the door and give it the correct position. Therefore, keep an eye on the spacing of fastener placement and try not to overdo it.
