The tongue-and-groove slab is a relatively new building material that has proven itself well in the construction of interior partitions. Structures made of gypsum are sufficiently durable, light in weight and very easy to install.

Today, trade offers the consumer two main types of products such as tongue-and-groove slabs. They differ from each other in functionality and composition of materials. This tongue-and-groove slab is moisture resistant (hydrophobized) and ordinary.

This building material is intended for the construction of internal interior partitions, including load-bearing ones, in industrial and residential buildings, as well as buildings that have a public purpose. Provided that either dry mode or normal humidity mode is installed inside them (SNiP P-3-79).

Special Applications

The tongue-and-groove hydrophobized plate is used in rooms with high humidity. This is regulated by the above building codes (SNiP).

WhenIn the manufacture of moisture-resistant boards, at the stage of their molding, special additives are added to the initial mass, which significantly reduce water absorption. Visually, they differ in green color.

Installation process

Any tongue-and-groove plate has a high vapor and gas permeability. Installation of such structures is carried out by gluing them with a special gypsum adhesive, which significantly reduces the time of work and ensures good performance. These types of adhesives contain combinations of adhesive additives and binders that interact well with the gypsum fiber that forms the basis of the tongue-and-groove boards. This allows you to achieve increased strength of the joints and increases the crack resistance of the entire structure.

Another advantage of this building material is that the walls erected from it do not require plastering.

Features

It is necessary to say about one more classification of the specified material. These slabs are divided into tongue-and-groove slabs, hollow and solid. The first ones are almost a quarter lighter than the second ones, but they have almost similar characteristics, including strength ones. Hollow slabs have a number of advantages:

  • When delivering them, the vehicle carrying the specified cargo can take more hollow slabs, which saves on transportation costs.
  • The productivity of the assembly team is growing due to the decrease in the labor intensity of the work performed.
  • hollow tongue-and-groove slabs

Hollow slabs are most often used for the construction of a double wall, inside which house communications are placed.

It is recommended to build partitions and walls from GWP (grooved slabs) after the erection of the enclosing and load-bearing structures of the object is completed, at the stage of finishing work, before the installation of a clean floor.

A few more advantages that the tongue-and-groove plate has:

  • Highly resistant to insects and putrefactive bacteria.
  • Does not deform under the influence of alternating temperature loads.
  • Machinable well.
  • Increases free space in rooms by reducing the thickness of interior partitions.
  • Can be transported by any transport both packaged and non-packaged.
  • The material is non-flammable and does not contain components harmful to he alth.
