Home comfort is priceless. In any case, we never spare money for repairs. This is especially true for those cases when you buy an apartment or house on the secondary market, in which the floors were laid in very old times.
How to level the floor of the house? There are several ways that can suit people with a variety of incomes.
Particleboards
This is the simplest and most straightforward method. Chipboard will be inexpensive, and you can get them in almost every hardware store. What to do before work?
Firstly, if the boards of the "native" coating are completely crooked and wobbly, then you will have to correct them by re-securing them on the logs. In this case, they will not creak, and the laid plates will no longer bend.
Before leveling the floor of the house, it is necessary to install beacons, make lining of bars in the right places. Be sure to check all the stages of work carried out using the building level. Chipboard boards themselves can be fixed with self-tapping screws. Please note that their hats should not come out of the coating, so it is necessary before twistingcut the bevels with a drill of the appropriate diameter.
GVL sheets
This method is not so common, but no less relevant. It is performed using gypsum fiber sheets. Of course, due to their low strength and tendency to bend, the idea of laying on logs will have to be abandoned.
To level the floor of the house, in this case, you need to use some kind of dry bedding. Experts say that ordinary expanded clay has proven itself well in this role. Before filling it, it is also necessary to fix the flooring boards as carefully as possible by screwing additional self-tapping screws into them.
The filling is made in such a layer that it forms a completely flat surface and has a margin of safety for subsidence or compression. Two layers of GVL are placed on top (across each other). Often they are fixed only with skirting boards (along the edge of the room), and the seams are sealed with glue or sealant.
Screed
Of course, using both of the above methods, you can level the floor of the house, but they do not give a 100% guarantee of strength. All that's left is the cement screed. Plus, if you're planning on tiling your floor, you don't have much of a choice.
You will need a decent amount of cement and good construction skills for this, otherwise your screed will be far from ideal.
Note that its thickness must be at least four centimeters, otherwise the floor may simply crack,unable to cope with the differences in coverage. Before leveling the floor under the tile with a screed, you need to carefully close up all the cracks and too large potholes, which can contribute to the overspending of cement, which is not cheap today.
Self-leveling floor
Keep in mind that if there are relatively even floors in an apartment or house, it makes no sense to make a screed. If the differences do not exceed three or four centimeters, then it would be much more reasonable to use the self-leveling floor technology.
Of course, before leveling the floors in the apartment with this method, you need to properly calculate your budget, since the technology itself is not too cheap.
