Regulated safety valves are of great importance for the safe operation of any system in which water, steam or other substance may be under high pressure. The pipeline through which it passes is unable to withstand the pressure. As a result, an explosion can occur with all the ensuing consequences. What are adjustable relief valves and how do they work?
Relief valve functions
Safety adjustable valves are direct acting valves. They work directly with the environment that carries out the production processes. Most often it is water. Instead, it can be air, steam, natural gas, ethylene glycol, or other substances that do not interact with the materials used to manufacture the valve.
The pressure relief valve has two functions. First, it releases the working medium when the pressure inside the system rises. But then he also blocks the exit from it. This occurs immediately after the pressure inside the system stabilizes.
Application
Adjustable relief valves installed on:
- industrial systems;
- household.
They prevent the influence of external and internal factors. The former include various malfunctions in the operation of equipment or the influence of external sources of elevated temperature. These may be errors during the installation of the system itself or the device.
Internal factors are physical processes within a device or system that lead to an increase in pressure.
Working principle
The operation of the valve is based on the fact that inside it there are two elements that are in balance for some time. A part called the lock keeps the working mixture from escaping the system. It is not allowed to move by the setter (spring), which has a certain compression force. But when the pressure inside the system passes the line defined by the operator, the spring is no longer able to hold the constipation. It contracts, the lock (sleeve) rises, and the medium under pressure comes out - to where the valve design directs it.
After the pressure stabilizes, the spring returns to its original position, pushing the lock into place.
Valve requirements
They should:
- On time and without fail to open constipation whenspecified pressure parameters.
- Have the capacity to quickly relieve excess pressure.
- Be sure to return the constipation to its place, ensuring the tightness of the system.
Classification
It is carried out according to various parameters.
According to the principle of operation, safety valves are of direct and indirect action (in order for it to work, you need a source of electricity).
They can be divided according to the material from which they are made (brass, cast iron, steel).
According to the nature of the lifting of constipation, valves are divided into proportional-acting and on-off devices.
In addition, valves can be low, medium and full lift. And these are not all possible classifications.
Relief valve adjustable Geneble 3190 (Spain)
According to the type of connection, it belongs to the coupling. The working medium can be water, steam, neutral gases and liquids.
Its body is made of high quality bronze. Safety valve 1'' adjustable has a brass body. The spool and glass are brass. The spring is made of galvanized steel. Teflon gasket.
Valve working pressure 16 kgf/m2 (bar).
Pressure adjustable from 1 to 12 kgf/m2. This value is factory set to 3 kgf/m2.
Adjust the actuation pressure with the adjusting screw. If aturn it clockwise, then the value increases, and if it is counterclockwise, then it decreases accordingly.
Excessive pressure up to 10% of normal is allowed.
Operating temperature from -10°С to 180°С, maximum is 200°С.
Mounting
In order to correctly install the valve, you need to look at the medium direction indicator located on the body.
The valve must be placed vertically or it will not work.
In order for the working medium not to leak, materials are used that do not react with it.
For installation, install the valve on the pipe and clamp it with a key to the mark inside the thread. The nut must not be over tightened. The outlet pipe is directed downwards so that the liquid does not return back, and secured so that it does not press on the body.
V altec adjustable valve
Adjustable safety valve V altec 1831 coupling discharges water or other working fluid (gas) after the pressure in it rises above the allowable.
Valve device
The spool with gasket is located inside the body. It is supported by a spring in the glass, which protects it from outside impact.
The degree of its compression is regulated by a thrust washer. The forced opening sleeve, which is held on the stem by two nuts, comes into contact with the adjusting sleeve. Thus, the spring is compressed, but not critically.
When the pressure increases above normal, the springshrinks more, the spool opens. Water or other substance exits through the nozzle. The pressure drops as required from the valve.
After the pressure has decreased and returned to normal, the spring is released. After all, the sleeve no longer presses on it so much. The system is sealed.
Features
Seat diameter available from 1/2'' to 2'' in 1/4'', 2, 2½'' and 3'' increments.
Full opening pressure is 1.1 of the set pressure, closing pressure is 0.9 of the set pressure.
Working temperature of the medium is not higher than 180 °С.
The valve operates from -25°C to 60°C (for water).
At the same time, it is designed for 5 thousand cycles and usually lasts at least 15 years.
All V altec valves up to 7 years are guaranteed and insured.
Safety adjustable valves can be opened manually. This is done in order to check their serviceability. It is advisable to check them every six months.
Controlled safety valves Geneble and V altec comply with GOST 12.2.085-2002 and GOST 24570-81.
