Products made of cupronickel are quite practical. They are not only durable, but also aesthetic enough that you can use them even during the holidays. Melchior is an alloy of metal and nickel. Additionally, products made from this material can be coated with silver. This allows them to be as close as possible to silver cutlery, but the price will be much lower.
Cleaning Rules
Cutlery made of cupronickel requires careful handling and compliance with the rules of care:
- do not use products containing chlorine when cleaning;
- not recommended to clean cupronickel cutlery and regular cleaning powders as the surface will wear off;
- care should be gentle.

Cleaning with soda ands alt
Soda is one of the universal products that helps us not only cook deliciously. With this substance, you can clean cupronickel cutlery without fear of damaging them.
Pour water into an enamel pan, add soda to it (2 tablespoons per 1 liter). Bring contents to a boil. Next, you need to lower the cutlery into the pan and leave them there for 5 minutes. Then take them out and wash them with normal dish detergent.
Another universal remedy is ordinary table s alt. In s alt water, add the crushed shells of two eggs. Then the water must be boiled, and then put cutlery in the pan. After a few minutes, remove the items and simply wipe with a woolen cloth.
Soda and s alt can make cupronickel products shine and eliminate unpleasant odors. To do this, you need to cover a deep container with foil and pour water into it (it should be hot). Add s alt and soda to it in a ratio of 3: 1. Keep cutlery in this container overnight. Take out in the morning and wipe with a woolen cloth.
Storage rules
It's not enough to know how to clean cupronickel cutlery. You need to be able to properly store them, then you can rarely clean them. The basic rules are:
- storage in plastic wrap (can be replaced with sealed container);
- avoid prolonged contact with moisture (you can remove dark spots from moisture with vinegar).
Besides this, it is worthremember that after washing, cupronickel cutlery should be wiped dry immediately. Following a few care rules will allow you to use your favorite set for a long time.
