One of the easiest and most affordable ways to change the interior of a room is a wallpaper sticker. Despite the fact that the gluing process itself is quite simple, many people make mistakes. As a result, the canvases may begin to peel off, and the joints become visible even with a cursory examination of the walls.
Surface preparation
The end result depends on the foundation and its initial state. The complex of measures consists in cleaning the walls of the old coating and any contamination. In the event that the surface is wet, then you will notice it on the concrete. The fact is that with an increased level of humidity, wallpapering is not allowed.
Next, we level the walls (if required) and carry out puttying. After all the preparatory activities, you can start wallpapering. First, measure the height of the wall and measure the first canvas. If there is no drawing, or you have chosen abstraction, then you do not need to make an allowance. If there is an image, we first dock the borders, and only then cut off the next canvas. So, having cut all the rolls, you will finally complete the preparatory work.
Now we close all windows and doors (we exclude the possibility of a draft), make a portion of glue and start work.
Glue dilution
We advise you to use those compositions that are recommended directly by the manufacturer. This is due to the fact that the basis of the wallpaper is different. And one glue may not work. For example, a vinyl wallpaper sticker is effective only with certain solutions. If you use a composition for paper sheets, then literally the next day the sheets will peel off.
Glue preparation rules are indicated on the packaging. They just need to be done.
Pasting wallpaper
We glue thick sheets end-to-end, thin sheets - end-to-end or overlap.
The first canvas must be applied very carefully, using a cord with a plumb line. After that, just follow this guideline. It is advisable to grease the joints, corners after pasting the wallpaper with a PVA brush.
Most often, wallpaper is smeared with glue from the top to the bottom, and then the edges or walls (if you have non-woven wallpaper). Next, the sheet is left for impregnation in accordance with the instructions (10-15 minutes). If the canvases are not sufficiently saturated, then air bubbles form on the walls.
We apply the prepared sheet to the side to be joined, holding it from the top in the center. We must press the strip with a soft roller, straightening the sheet from the center to the edges. We especially carefully smooth the seams, and remove excess glue with a sponge or rag.
Finished joints are periodically inspected and smoothed. Bubbles that could not be removed with a roller are pierced with a needle and pressed.
If a sticker is requiredwallpaper behind batteries or pipes, then all joints are especially carefully coated with glue, and in places of hooks we make neat cuts. If there are plastic slopes with a flexible corner, the edges of the wallpaper must be removed under it. At doors and windows, the edges of the wallpaper are cut off only after drying.
Thus, a wallpaper sticker is a whole range of works, which is quite easy to perform if you follow the instructions and rules. In conclusion: if you have chosen plain canvases, you can purchase decorative wallpaper stickers. This decor is available to everyone, while it does not require special skills and knowledge.
