When performing repairs, it is imperative to evaluate the quality of walls, floors and ceilings. Sometimes you have to spend a lot of effort to eliminate existing irregularities and curvature. To do this, several different methods are used. The choice of a specific method for eliminating surface defects is determined by their size. If the irregularities of the walls or ceilings are insignificant, no more than five centimeters, then it is quite possible to get by with their plastering. The so-called beacon for plaster helps to perform such an operation qualitatively.
This somewhat unusual name bears a special profile that is attached to the wall. Fastening is carried out in such a way that its upper edge forms a flat plane. Focusing on the beacon for plaster, the surface is leveled. To do this, the applied layer of the mixture is leveled using a special rule. The latter moves along the established beacons. The result is a flat surface. After the plastering is done, the beacons themselves are not removed. They are usually covered with a layer of plaster. Therefore, only galvanized steel products should be used.
With such an organization of work, the decisivehas fastening beacons for plaster. To perform such a procedure, it is necessary to ensure the creation of a flat surface along the upper edge of the profile. To do this, it is leveled in the vertical and horizontal planes using a plumb line and a level.
The beacons themselves can be fixed in several ways. They can be
fasten with self-tapping screws in pre-installed dowels using special clips or using a gypsum-based quick-setting mortar. In this case, small "cakes" of the mixture are applied to the surface at a small distance from each other. A beacon for plaster is pressed into them, the position of which is leveled with a level.
The installation step is fifty centimeters. Such an installation of beacons under plaster allows them to be used as guides, along which, by moving the rule, it is possible to level the layer of plaster previously applied to the surface. It should be noted that although this technology of surface preparation for plastering allows to obtain its high quality, the installation of beacons itself takes a lot of time and requires considerable experience.
When carrying out such work, the main attention must be paid to controlling the position of the plane formed by the beacons relative to the wall. Firstly, it must hide all the defects of the surface on which the plaster is applied (potholes, protrusions, curvature of the walls). Secondly, the layer of material deposited on thewalls or ceiling should not be excessively large. In this case, there will be an additional consumption of the mixture and a decrease in the overall strength of the applied coating.
The plaster beacon must be considered as one of the main elements of the stage of work related to the preparation of the surface for the finish coating. The correct installation of these elements allows you to get a high-quality surface suitable for the subsequent implementation of any type of finish. At the same time, it is possible to achieve savings in plaster spent on leveling walls, and reduce the overall cost of work.
