Purpose and composition of the material

The P-4 solvent is intended for diluting paint and varnish products made on the basis of vinyl chloride copolymers, chlorinated polyvinyl chloride and epoxy resins. It belongs to complex solutions, since it contains more than two components. The solvent consists of such volatile organic substances as butyl acetate - 12%, acetone - 26%, toluene - 62%.

Application

To dilute varnishes and paints used in interior decoration, as well as to prepare surfaces, R-4 solvent is used. Paints and varnishes are applied to the surface in an even layer, so they should not contain lumps, which delaminate when dried. To bring them to the required consistency, the solvent is added to enamels, primers, putties in small portions, while mixing thoroughly. Cleaning of surfaces from grease stains and old contaminants is carried out with a rag soaked in a solution. It evaporates, the resulting filmhardens and becomes a protective coating for the treated surface.

By adding R-4 solvent to paint products, the price of which is 90 rubles per 1 liter, you reduce their consumption and increase the possibility of processing a larger surface area. The mixing rates recommended by the manufacturer are indicated on the packaging of the solution. Safety measures

Solvent P-4 is a liquid that has strong irritating effects on the skin, mucous membranes of the organs of vision and respiration. It is toxic, flammable and even explosive. The R-4 solvent is highly volatile and belongs to the 3rd hazard class. When working with it, some precautions should be observed.

Work using this material should be carried out in rooms with supply and exhaust ventilation, away from open fire, at a temperature of +5 … + 30ºС, and also with a relative humidity of 85%. When appliedsolvent is forbidden to smoke. This substance is explosive in contact with oxidizing agents such as acetic and nitric acids, hydrogen peroxide, as well as with chloroform and bromoform.

Storage

P-4 Solvent is a flammable and toxic substance, so it must be stored in a securely closed container, away from heaters, foodstuffs, electrical devices, out of the reach of children, and out of direct sunlight. It is supplied to the distribution network in containers made of materials resistant to its components. The room where the solvent is stored must not be a fire hazard. Shelf life from date of manufacture is 12 months.
