This is a positive fact, since a person has the opportunity to realize his design fantasies. But the sizes of openings and doors of any shape still have a certain standardization.
Many people make repairs on their own, without resorting to the help of construction companies. This is done out of economy or for your own pleasure and confidence in a quality result. It is quite possible to install a door frame with your own hands. Almost anyone can do it. But when laying a doorway, it is necessary to take into account the standard size of the structure that a person has chosen for himself.
If the owner, for his own confidence, wants to make his own door frame for an interior opening, for example, to ensure increased security of his home, or if the door is non-standard, then all the possibilities for this now exist.
Dimensions

However, these standards vary from country to country. In Russia they are similar to Spain and Italy. The frame box consists of several parts: frame, trim, nut, sealant. The first part is usually U-shaped and has a notch. The latter is needed in order for the door leaf to enter the structure. The platband closes the gap that forms between the wall and the door frame. Such an element gives an aesthetic appearance. The threshold completes the design. Don't forget the seal - it will provide you with insulation.
What is important for the reliability and functionality of the framework:
- Maximum even bars from which the frame is made. Deviations are acceptable, but minimal (2-3 mm).
- Durable frame and nut material.
- The height of the sills is about 2-3 cm. It is not necessary to make them in the kitchen.
- The width of the trim is selected depending on the width of the gap between the frame and the doorway.

Assembly
What do you need to assemble the door frame yourself? The first thing to do is to purchase a profile. If you decide to make the frame wooden, then it will not be difficult to find a standard wooden profile. Usually it is customized under the door. But if a person decides to make a custom design in order to make the most of the area of the doorway, then they are guided by the dimensions of the opening.
Before cutting the profile, it is necessary to measure all sides of the opening, its width and height. For normal operation, mounting foam is required, which fills the gap between the frame and the opening. At the same time, it is necessary that the distance between them be at least 1.5 cm. Therefore, in the manufacture of the upper crossbar, 3 cm is subtracted from the width of the opening. For side profiles, 1.5 cm is subtracted from the height of the opening. Using a miter box, the corresponding parts of two vertical and one horizontal bar at an angle of 45 degrees. How is the installation of interior door frames carried out?
With a drill, you need to make one through hole in the vertical bars perpendicular to the cut plane. Lubricate the cuts with wood glue. Next, connect the vertical bars and the crossbar along these sections and secure them together with clamps. Fix the connection with screws.
If you decide to connect the frame parts with a dowel, then a hole for it is drilled before applying glue in both surfaces to be joined at once. To do this, use a drill with a diameter of 4 mm. The dowel is lubricated with glue and driven into the hole of a vertical or horizontal bar. After that, the entire surface of the joints is already lubricated. The bars are connected through a dowel.
What's next?
When everything is finally assembled, it's time to start installing the door frame. If there is a threshold, dismantle it. Fasten the bar in its place. The wooden plank should be no thicker than 2 cm. Fasten the threshold, but be careful with its length. This indicator must match the width of the door opening. Next, drill holes in the frame bars for the screws with which you will attach the frame to the wall. Usually, three holes are made in vertical bars at an equal distance from each other, and two in horizontal bars.
Insert the frame into the opening. Carefully align it with a plumb line and level. Make marks in the wall through the holes in the frame. Remove the frame. Using a puncher, drill holes for the dowels along these marks. Fix the frame in place with screws. In no case do we tighten them. Remember that there should be a gap of 1.5 cm between the frame and the opening. It will give us the opportunity to adjust and align the position of the frame. To ensure that the mounting foam does not shift the position of the frame, all screws in the mount must be tightened tightly. But do not bend the bars,pulling them against the wall.
Hidden door frame
Hidden mount is a little different from foam mount, which is often used. Anchors or screws are already used here. Mounting holes are not made along the bars, and the fasteners are usually hidden in the hinges. There are only three fixation points.
Fixing the door frame, install spacers. The gaps are filled with mounting foam. To prevent the frame from deforming, the spacers are held until the foam hardens completely. This installation option requires accuracy in calculations and scrupulousness in actions. With any inaccuracies, it will be impossible to adjust anything. You will have to do everything again, having dismantled and reinstalled the interior door frames. However, this method has its advantages. The hidden fastening is quite rigid and makes it possible to preserve the appearance of the structure.
Pendants
Another option - fastening door frames - on metal hangers. For this, parts for a false ceiling are taken. The plates themselves are screwed to the door frame. Inserted into the opening, they must be regulated with the help of a level. Marks are made for fixing the plate in the right places. After that, indentations are made in the future to hide the fasteners.
What is an extra?
This is a certain bar. It comes in different thicknesses, sizes and textures. It is required when the thickness of the wall is less than the door frame. Planks can be installed both on both sides and on one side. They can also be used for older structures. They not onlystrengthen it, but can also be used to mask any defects on the slopes (including as an independent decorative tool). The main thing is to choose the texture of the addition to match the canvas or walls.
Finish
When the box is fully installed, you can proceed to the final stage. How is finishing done after installing the door frame with your own hands? Some installation and cosmetic work needs to be done.
All gaps between the frame and the wall are filled with foam. Remember that it expands many times and will soon climb out of all the cracks. But don't skimp. How long the structure will last directly depends on the quality of this work. It would be nice to protect the floor and walls from excess foam with a film attached to adhesive tape. After waiting for the foam to dry completely, you can cut off the excess with a clerical knife.
Then it is necessary to clean those surfaces on which the foam should not be. Only after that we move on to the platbands. Having measured three planks by applying them to the horizontal and vertical beams of the door frame, we cut them off with a miter box at an angle of 45 degrees. All cut corners must coincide with each other without gaps, as a whole. Using screws, we fasten them to the frame, sinking them as deep as possible into the platbands.
At this stage, gaps can again form and not only between the wall and the door frame. There is no point in worrying - it's easy to fix. To do this, purchase a special wood putty. Apply it togaps, and then level the mixture. Wait until it is completely dry and sand the surface. After that, install the hinges for the door leaf.
To do this, use a chisel and make recesses for them in the places where necessary. Take screws and a screwdriver to secure the parts.
