The loft-style floor is a favorite among young people and designers because of its unpretentiousness and versatility. It is worth considering all sorts of design options and familiarize yourself with everything in this article.
Loft style is
In translation from English, the word loft means an attic, a gallery, a warehouse or a factory room. All elements are somewhat similar to the details of warehouses or workshops, but in reality, a correctly composed loft composition directly testifies to a bold taste and an original sense of style.
The loft is a huge spacious room that is illuminated by abundant natural sunlight (thanks to huge windows). Distinctive features: high ceilings and no partitions. Only the bedroom and the toilet are hidden from the general view.
The combination of the incongruous applies here. For example, a shabby loft-style floor, brickwork and the latest technology. Vintage elements with minimalism find a common language without any problems. So, they often make the floor of the kitchen in a loft style and dilute it with minimalist details, which not only looks interesting, but also practical.
Style Features
Among the main features are:
- Free and open floor plan - minimum partitions and internal walls.
- High ceiling. The industrial loft in the twenty-first century is famous for its light-colored, unattainable ceilings that pair beautifully with exposed ventilation, communication gear, or beams.

Designers also conditionally divide the described architectural style into three radically different directions:
- Bohemian. The factory style is preserved, antique furniture and other accessories are added. Bohemia is supported by avant-garde paintings, sculptures, musical instruments anddried flower.
- Glamorous. Differs in original color schemes - pastel shades of spectral colors. The emphasis falls on lighting: designer lamps, chandeliers or LED lighting. Baroque mirrors, cute floor lamps and glossy magazines will help to emphasize everything.
- Industrial. The industrial loft is often used to design living spaces and cafeterias. Metal structures, wires, functional furniture are used - those elements that fully convey the spirit of production.
Loft is unpredictable. And yet, before installing the scenery, you need to take care of the basics. In this case, we are talking about a field in the loft style.
Concrete floor
This option is used most often. Cement always finds a place in the creation of warehouses and workshop complexes. Loft-style concrete floors have a number of advantages:
- arrangement of insulation;
- high strength materials;
- ease of maintenance;
- wide choice in colors;
- repairability;
- possible additional polishing.
Flooring can absorb spilled liquid, which will spoil the original color. In this case, protection with a clear varnish or hydrophobic impregnation is highly recommended.
Deformation is also possible if heavy objects are dropped regularly. But this will only add authenticity to the design.
Self-leveling floor
Loft-style self-leveling floor is created using high quality cement andpolymer additives, which are distinguished by a fine structure and excellent adhesive parameters. Materials easily penetrate into all irregularities and crevices, eliminating unaesthetic appearance. As pluses come to the fore:
- sustainable;
- duration in operation;
- resistance to external influences;
- resistance to moisture, chemical or biological irritants;
- preserve performance under temperature changes.

Wooden floor
Initially, the loft was associated with a tree. Therefore, the wooden floor is the best match for the concept of "attic" and conveys its atmosphere.
In creating the interior, the following types of wooden coatings are used:
- massive board - the standard that will always be relevant;
- barn board - stylistic features and artificial antiquity;
- curved board - an innovative approach that combines the features of the first two.
Wood floors are renowned for their versatility, durability and ease of heating. Looks great with carpets or even skins (preferably faux).
Tile
Loft-style floor tiles are a relatively new solution that is gaining more and more popularity every year. Applicable for decoration:
- Bathroom. Attention is given to classic options without bright research.
- Kitchen. The choice falls on tiles with different prints, or tiles with wood, stone and brick textures.
Ceramic granite is used in the creation of flooring. Thanks to this, the tile has some advantages:
- easy installation;
- long service life;
- high strength;
- abrasion resistance;
- easy to maintain later.
Thus, a loft is a style that can be convincingly silent and scream loudly about freedom. There are no frames in the design, oxymoron and self-expression are welcome. If there is not enough light in life, then you can just open the windows in the loft-style room and dance on the glossy floor.
