A storm well is located in the local area in order to drain excess water, which is formed when snow melts and as a result of rains. One of the components of the storm sewer is a rain well, which includes:

  • neckline;
  • mine;
  • lid.

The storm well has a neck through which water enters the mine. After precipitation can be used. The well is protected by a lid to exclude the possibility of a person and foreign objects getting inside.

Storm well can be made of plastic or concrete. Most often in the latter case, reinforced concrete is used. Depending on the purpose, wells can be divided into:

  • absorbent;
  • reception;
  • drop.

Description of wells

The first type of wells is also called filtering. Such structures are devoid of a bottom,because they are located on the site below the occurrence of groundwater. The liquid that enters the absorption well goes into the ground. The storm sewer receiving well is designed for areas where groundwater is located quite high.

The liquid entering such a structure can be used in the next stage to irrigate the area. In order to extract water from such a well, pumps are used. An overflow storm well is installed where there are impressive drops in the ground. Such designs make it possible to exclude the flow of water, which would be able to disable the system.

Storm well installation

Due to the fact that such a well can be made of plastic or reinforced concrete, the installation technology of these structures is different. In the case of a plastic product, a corrugated pipe or a well of the required diameter is prepared at the first stage. For work, you should take care of the availability:

  • rubber seal;
  • mastics;
  • sealant;
  • concrete mortar;
  • gravel or sand.

If required, prepare a plastic bottom. Seals will be needed to ensure the reliability of the connection of the elements. And for additional protection of these places, sealant should be used. You can strengthen the connections of the mine with the bottom using mastic.

A storm sewer well can be represented by a corrugated pipe. For installation, a pit and trenches are being prepared forpipe laying. The soil from below is reinforced with fine gravel or sand. Holes are made in the corrugated pipe, which will be necessary for connecting pipes.

Use the rubber seal to connect the piping. The joints are treated with sealant. If the well will have a bottom, then it is fixed on a concrete base. At the next stage, you can proceed with the installation of the corrugated pipe.

The bottom and the pipe at the junction are processed with mastic, it is advisable to use the one that is made on the basis of bitumen. Along the entire perimeter, the walls of the well are covered with gravel, and then with earth. At the final stage, a protective cover is installed, located on top of the shaft. The well can be made independently from plastic rings or corrugated pipes, this approach will save money.

Reinforced concrete well installation

If the well is made of reinforced concrete, then it will be much more difficult to install it than plastic. To carry out the work you will need:

  • concrete rings;
  • cement mortar;
  • concrete slab;
  • lifting equipment.

The slab will act as the bottom of the well. To seal joints, in addition to cement mortar, plaster and bitumen should be prepared. At the first stage, it is necessary to dig a hole and trenches for pipelines. A concrete slab is installed at the bottom. An alternative solution is to pour the base from a concrete mixture. The foundation and rings are treated with bitumen, which is significantlyprolongs the life of products.

As soon as the slab dries, you can start installing the rings, and you can't do without lifting equipment. It is important to avoid distortions. The joints between the rings are treated with cement mortar and bitumen. After drying these materials, you should start finishing the walls with plaster.

Sand should be poured into the bottom of the well. Soil is used for backfilling. All layers are compacted using special equipment or a shovel. The well at the final stage is closed with a lid, and a blind area is made around it. Its width should be 150 cm or more. This will strengthen the structure.

Distribution well device

The storm sewer distribution pit is usually a container made of durable fiberglass, which quite often has reinforced walls. This design is equipped with inlet and outlet channels. The container is closed with a lid. The input channel is usually one, while the output channels should be two, they are organized at different levels.

The distribution well is supplied with a ventilation pipe. The design is intended for the distribution of water and the supply of liquid to the treatment plant. A ladder is provided inside the housing for ease of maintenance. The neck of the well has a diameter, which is usually 60 cm. This allows you to install a cast-iron sewer hatch on top. Structurally, it is possible to install a plastic hatch. This is true for the case when the well is located on a landscapedterritory.

Drainage well

A drainage well for storm sewers is located in places where moisture accumulates most often, this includes depressions in the ground, as well as a platform under a drainpipe. Such a reservoir has the form of a vertical drainage pipe into which ground and surface water enters. The design capacity is quite high.

If we are talking about a linear storm sewer, then in this case the walls of the drainage well are additionally reinforced with concrete rings. However, considering the issue from the point of view of economy, it should be emphasized that the most profitable option for a mine is a plastic well in the form of a structure with drainage pipes connected. The walls are reinforced with casing pipes, the diameter of which varies from 300 to 400 mm.

Cleaning

You already know the device of the storm well, this was discussed above. However, for proper operation, it is important to know not only this. Experts recommend familiarizing yourself with the features of cleaning. The described system requires maintenance. After all, it can be clogged with deposits and accumulated debris. Manipulation can be done in the following ways:

  • thermal;
  • chemical;
  • hydrodynamic;
  • mechanical.

The mechanical method is most often used to clean individual systems. It provides for manual removal of dirt from the gutters,storm water inlets, drainage channels and liquid purification systems. To do this, you can use brooms, mops and special devices with tips.

The hydrodynamic method for cleaning wells is also quite common. It involves the use of high pressure technology. The destruction of blockages is carried out under the influence of a jet of water. Cleaning storm wells using this technique involves the use of household pumps that supply water from a source, specialized equipment can act as it.

The thermal method differs from the above in that water enters the sewer under high pressure and at a high temperature ranging from 120 to 140 ° C. The advantage of this approach is the ability to clean the system of dirt and debris, as well as body fat.

Conclusion

The reservoir described above acts as the final point that should be put in the arrangement of the surface drainage system. Considering the varieties of such structures, receiving storm wells should be distinguished. They are installed where groundwater is high. Water enters such a well, which can then be used to water plants. The principle of operation of such a system is the accumulation of fluid and its subsequent use.
