There are still houses in which there is no grounding. And this means that neither people nor property in such a house are protected from malfunctions in various electrical equipment. Having bought such a house, the owners have to, taking the necessary measures for electrical safety, carry out grounding with their own hands.
Grounding should be carried out everywhere: both in ordinary homes and in shops, restaurants, cafes, karaoke bars. It must be taken into account that singing into a microphone on the street or holding concerts in the rain is dangerous without grounding. In rainy weather, these activities are best done indoors.
When grounding a building, steel is most often used as a more economical material. Also, copper or steel in a copper sheath can be used as a ground electrode.
It is quite possible to install grounding with your own hands. This work is not daunting, and anyone can do it. To carry out the installation of grounding, large materialinvestment and extensive knowledge in the electrical, electrical business.
The grounding system, in fact, consists of several electrodes that are dug into the ground and are interconnected by metal strips.
There are stationary and portable grounding. Initially, for grounding, it is necessary to dig several, at least three, medium-sized pits on the site. For example, the depth of these pits can be two spade bayonets. Then, electrodes should be driven deep enough into the holes obtained, the location of which depends on one's own desire. After that, small grooves should be dug between the installed electrodes, in which the connecting conductors should be placed.
In this case, it is not forbidden to use a steel wire that has a cross section of at least 50 mm². The next step is to switch to copper wire. All this is done with bolted connections. It should be remembered that the sections of the copper wire and the phase supply conductor must be equal.
There are several basic technical requirements for how to do grounding with your own hands:
- As ordinary electrodes, it is possible to use simple water pipes or banal steel corners. The length of these electrodes should be 2 m, and the width should be 40-50 mm. The total cross-sectional area must be at least 150 mm². It is necessary that the minimum distance between the existing ground electrodes is 120 cm.
- You can use as connectors a steel strip, the width of which is 40 mm, or fittings with an approximate diameter of 0.1-0.12 cm. The connecting strip should be fastened to the electrode by welding. In this case, the use of any other fasteners is prohibited!
As a result of all of the above, we can conclude that it is not difficult to carry out grounding with your own hands in the house. By adhering to these instructions, everyone will be able to ensure the safety of themselves and their property in the house from power failures.
