PVL sheet is a material created using a special technology. For its manufacture, various metal products are used: low-carbon steel, galvanized, brass, aluminum, copper, and also made of stainless steel. Metal expanded metal sheets have found the widest application in modern construction, industry and the national economy.
Currently, several grades of PVL are produced (sheet thickness is indicated in brackets):
- mark 406 (4mm);
- grades 506, 508, 510 (5mm);
- grades 606, 608, 610 (6 mm).
Application
PVL sheet is, first of all, a material for construction. But its operational qualities are actively used in production and in everyday life. Here is an incomplete range of applications for PVL:
- device of decks, flights of stairs, steps and spans for construction work;
- construction of maintenance sites in various industries;
- reinforcement of reinforced concrete structures;
- production of protective grilles and viewing windows in mechanical engineering;
- production of gratings for heating radiators;
- creation of reinforcingelements when applying plaster;
- construction of enclosures, fences;
- production of various containers;
- construction of verandas, gazebos and balconies;
- creating floor anti-slip flooring;
- device of reflective barriers on roads with oncoming traffic;
- to separate various raw materials into fractions by sieving;
- production of various decorative elements;
- supporting the passage in mines and power plants;
- manufacturing of other metal structures for various purposes.
Production technology
PVL sheet is made by cutting a steel sheet with its further drawing. This method of production eliminates the formation of waste, which reduces the cost of the finished product. Modern technologies make it possible to maintain a sufficient level of strength of the expanded metal sheet.
Let's briefly consider each stage of production.
- Stage 1. On a solid metal sheet, using special knives, a notch is evenly applied in a checkerboard pattern. The main forms of notches are “scales” and “rhombus”.
- Stage 2. The punched sheet is stretched until the cells are of the desired shape and size.
- Stage 3. The stretched fabric with the finished punching is rolled between special shafts. This is necessary so that the PVL metal sheet becomes flatter and undergoes less deformation during further operation. During rollingcells should be located in the direction of movement of the sheet.
Production is carried out in accordance with regulatory specifications (TU 36.26.11-5-89 and TU 27.1-25484714-001). The manufacture of PVL from low-alloy steel is carried out in accordance with GOST 8706-78. If rolled metal made of brass, aluminum or galvanized steel is used, then GOST 380-94 is observed.
Benefits
What is good about such material as expanded metal sheet? PVL has a number of positive properties. Rolling technology allows you to create a sheet of metal that is sufficiently resistant to deformation, capable of maintaining a given shape. PVL sheet has less weight than rolled metal without notches. Thanks to this property, the installation of PVL is greatly facilitated. The good strength of the material determines the ability of the sheet to withstand heavy loads and makes it possible to cut PVL without mesh spreading. In addition, the presence of notches prevents slipping.
Cost
Various types of rolled metal, including PVL sheet, are in great demand on the construction market. Its price depends on the width, which can be equal to 50, 60, 71, 80, 90 or 100 cm, as well as on what metal the sheet is made of. You can buy expanded metal brand 406 from 1100 rubles apiece. The cost of this material brand 508 is from 2100 rubles per sheet. PVL made of galvanized steel and aluminum is cheaper than expanded metal made of alloy steel and copper. In addition, the price depends on the area of the sheet and the size of the cells, and in many casesis negotiable.
