The main guarantor of the safety and reliability of your property is a door lock. This mission can only be entrusted to a high-quality lock that has the appropriate certificates and a certain protection class, made of durable materials. Choosing the right one is just as important as getting a good door.
There are different types of locks. The most common of them are divided into overhead and mortise. The former are rarely installed on metal doors, as they do not look very attractive from the inside. Such locks are ideal for wooden doors, they are easy to operate and install. Mortise locks are both protection and fastening, they look aesthetically good, they are installed by inserting or cutting into the door.
The following types of door locks are distinguished according to the mechanisms of action: bolt, code, electronic, level, cylinder. Let's consider them in more detail. Crossbar types of locks represent the protection of the door not at one, but at several points. They fix the closed door due to locking mechanisms (the main one is a non-spring bolt).
Combination locks allow us not to worry about the keys. They require very careful markup. A good electronic lock hasa drive that controls the bolts. Its "key" and the control unit must not be combined. The door itself with such a lock does not have any marks. When disconnected from the power supply of the lock, it must remain closed. Lever types of locks are classic locks that have an internal massive part and a system of special code plates. It is quite difficult to break such a lock physically, but there is a high probability of picking a master key by an attacker.
Cylinder locks are characterized by easy replacement of the mechanism in the lock. The secret mechanism can be determined from the key. The most common are disk and font secrecy mechanisms. These types of locks have a rather complex shape with a large number of holes and cutouts, they are one-sided and two-sided. A more complex shape of the key determines the higher secrecy of the lock. This castle was invented not so long ago - about 150 years ago. Due to the high degree of reliability and protection, it is almost impossible to pick up a master key to it.
In addition to door locks, there are also padlocks. In turn, there are various types of padlocks. If we classify them by size, then we distinguish between small (miniature) locks (used for constipation of modern suitcases, mailboxes, collars for large dogs), medium (general purpose), large (for various household needs), barn (for warehouses and sheds). According to the design features, there are padlocks secret, screw, combination, lever, without lever and on the basis of cylindricalmechanisms.
Now that you know the classification and varieties of all existing locks, you can safely go to the store. It is very important to choose locks that will meet your needs and requirements, and most importantly - protect you reliably.
