Crane beams are needed for the operation of lifting equipment. They must be as reliable and durable as possible. Reinforced concrete crane beams are mounted on the head of the columns of the production building, but can also be suspended from roof trusses.

Reinforced concrete crane beams are used in heated and unheated industrial premises with a reinforced concrete frame and spans of 18 and 24 m for the installation of conventional overhead cranes operating in light and medium gravity with a lifting capacity of up to 32 tons. They can also be used on overpasses, located outdoors. These structures can withstand seismic shocks up to magnitude 9. They are made of tee-section concrete with a span of 6 m and I-section for spans of 12 m. Their reinforcement in the longitudinal direction is made of steel with a diameter of 14–25 mm, and in the transverse direction and non-stressed reinforcement in the longitudinal direction can be steel and have a diameter of 6 –18 mm.

Installation

Mount them directly from vehicles. The installation team must beat least five people.

Before installation, the products are laid out on special wooden linings along the longitudinal axis of the building columns using a jib crane. Crane beams 6 m long are installed in the required position with a conventional traverse with hooks (if the object is longer, then a traverse with tongs is used). During the ascent, it is held by special braces to avoid hitting the building columns. Then the beam is leveled in height and in plan using a jack. Install gaskets of the desired thickness, which are then fixed with anchor bolts. First, the fastening is performed temporarily, then the geodetic alignment of the position is carried out, and only after that the structure is finally fixed.

Steel structures

Crane beams made of steel, made by welding, the length of which is 6 and 12 m, in cross section are an I-beam. They are made up of three sheets. Such structures are installed on the columns of buildings made of metal or reinforced concrete, as well as on the columns of overpasses located in the open air. They withstand frosts down to -65°С and seismic shocks up to 9 points (inclusive).

On such crane beams, conventional overhead electric cranes with a lifting capacity of up to 50 tons are installed, designed for medium and heavy duty work. Metal crane beams are made of two types: ordinary and end, which are adjacent to the ends of buildings andtemperature seams. The steel from which they are made is structural welded from C29 to C44. Butt welds must be fully welded (no voids). They are primed and painted. These designs must arrive marked. The marking indicates the order number, drawing number, symbol of the beam and serial number of production. Products must be supplied complete with mounting gaskets in an amount equal to the number of received designs. The application of technical documentation is mandatory.
