Compression fitting is a special device that helps to firmly connect plastic or metal pipes without the use of welding technology. Thus, the installation of engineering systems becomes cheaper and faster. The presented device is made of metal or polypropylene. The diameter of the fitting can be different: from 1.6 to 11 cm. The color range of the product is quite limited. In addition, it must contain high quality sealing rubber inside, which will ensure the tightness of the connection.
Compression fitting is used in the construction of structures (main water pipelines, water supply wells, when laying pipes), as well as in the design of irrigation systems (large and small irrigation installations). We have listed only some of the main uses of the device.
Compression fitting has certain advantages:
- Reliable parts.
- Handmade assembly that eliminates the use of welding machines or any other complex tools. To connect all the elements, you only need a simplecrimping wrench, the configuration of which depends on the characteristics of the part.
- Self-assembly. To install the fitting, you do not need the help of specialists. It is quite easy to figure out its device and purpose. This makes installation cheaper.
- The product can be used several times. If you need to repair a damaged pipe, it is not necessary to buy a new connection.
- Small cost.
Compression fitting can be dismantled and used in other configurations. However, it should be noted that in this case the use of the products must be temporary. After some period, the tightness of the connection may be broken due to the weakening of the compression. Use the product only if you can reach it quickly and easily.
Compression pipe fittings are very easy to install. To work, you will need special pipe shears, a chamfering knife, plumbing grease, a white marker, an appropriate clamp wrench, a drill with nozzles.
So, first you need to cut off those elements that will be connected. The cut of the pipe must be perfectly even and free from burrs. If they are, then they can be eliminated with a beveler, which at the same time makes a cone at the end of the element. Then it should be noted to what depth the fitting will sit. Now the pipe can be lubricated. Next, you need to prepare the compression fittings. For this they needcompletely disassemble (as far as the design allows). Now you need to put on the clamping nut, collet and other parts of the product on the pipe. All elements of the fitting must be twisted together and fixed.
Of course, after that, the entire structure should be checked for leaks. If everything is in order, then you can safely use the system. That's all the features of the installation of the presented devices. Good luck!
