The most common flooring substrate is a concrete floor. Despite the excellent strength characteristics, sooner or later the concrete begins to collapse, cracks appear. This leads to the need for reconstruction. Floor repair depends on the degree of wear and the complexity of the problem. In addition, it can take quite a long time and usually requires skills and the necessary tools.
Concrete floor repair may be needed for several problems, including:
- cracks due to wear or excessive vibration;
- destruction of the top layer;
- appearance of irregularities and potholes;
- destruction of seam joints;
- destruction of the screed.
Each of the listed damages can be reconstructed, thanks to which it is possible to restore the aesthetics and quality performance of the floor. Consider how to repair the floor, with specific examples.
Close upcracks
Technology for repairing the formed cracks depends on their depth and the level of destruction of the edge.
In the event that traces of the begun destruction of concrete are visible along the edges of the crack, it is worth carrying out a tape repair. To do this, a strip is cut along the crack in the floor, the width and depth of which depend on the degree of destruction. The resulting strip is completely cleaned of dust and coated with a primer based on epoxy resins. After pre-treatment, the cavity is filled with a specially prepared mixture. The surface is leveled and left to dry completely, after which it is polished. In the event that the repair of the floor is caused by deep damage, more than 4-6 cm, the mixture must be applied in several layers.
Minor cracks that have not yet caused serious damage to the concrete pavement can be repaired using polymer compounds or solutions that contain adhesive. The main thing is to carry out the preparatory work correctly and clean the cracks from contamination.
Fixing potholes and bumps
You can eliminate irregularities with the help of ordinary grinding, both mechanical, using a special machine, and manual. Pothole repair is a technologically more complex process. A rectangle is cut along the perimeter of the damage, the depth of which is equal to the depth of the damage. Using an industrial vacuum cleaner, dust and residues of building material are removed. The inner surface of the rectangle is treated with a polymer or epoxy compound and filledrepair mix. The surface is carefully leveled, dried and polished.
Restoring the coupler
Repair of floor screed can be done in several ways:
- The injection method involves filling the cavity of the exfoliated part with a special composition and strengthening it. To do this, it is necessary to determine the size of the delamination by tapping. Using a drill, you need to drill holes in the surface of the exfoliated screed and use a syringe to pour epoxy into these holes.
- In some cases, when repairing the floor, the screed can be reinforced with reinforcement. To do this, the damaged surface is cleaned of dust and treated with a primer, on top of which glue is applied. Fiberglass is applied to the treated surface until it dries. The surfaces are allowed to dry well and a special impregnation is applied. After hardening, the patches are sanded.
