A rubber cuff, or an oil seal, is an annular-shaped rubber product designed to connect parts of mechanisms. Rubber rings differ in their configuration and are installed on cylindrical parts and mechanisms. They prevent the penetration of liquids, lubricants and gases into low pressure areas from high pressure areas. The design features, shapes and technical properties of cuffs are determined by the scope of their use.

Reinforced rubber cuffs

Reinforced oil seals are designed to seal a variety of shafts that operate in mineral oils and lubricants based on such oils, as well as in water and diesel fuel, where the overpressure level does not exceed 0.05 MPa, and the speed is 20 m/ c at temperatures from -45 degrees to +100 degrees.

There are two types of seals, one of which is a single-lip rubber cuff without anther, and the second is with anther. Cuffs without an anther prevent leakage of the sealed medium, and with an anther they also protect against dust ingress. Lips on glands are made in two ways - by machining and by molding. All cuffs must be marked. The marking indicates the type of gland, where index 1 will indicate that the product is without an anther, and 2 - with an anther. Further, the way the gland is made is indicated: index 1 means that the edge is obtained mechanically, and index 2 means that the edge is molded. The next number is the diameter of the shaft, followed by the outer diameter of the stuffing box itself, and finally its height. All these values are indicated in millimeters. For example, 1, 2-60x80x10.

Rubber reinforced cuffs can be made of elastomer and its mixtures, butadiene-nitrile, silicone and other types of rubber or polyurethane. The features of the production of these products depend on the scope of their application, for example, in the automotive industry, mechanical engineering, in the aircraft industry and other areas.
