When designing a future kitchen, there are many factors to consider. Among them, the location of the bathroom, gas boiler, dining table, refrigerator, room size, etc. It would be desirable that, in addition to functionality and ergonomics, kitchen furniture looked elegant and stylish. In this regard, the kitchen facade plays a huge role. This includes the doors of shelves and cabinets, the outer panels of bedside tables and tables, that is, the entire visible part of the furniture.
Today, different colors, types, textures and shapes make it possible to realize almost any creative idea. At the same time, the cost of manufacturing and the appearance of the kitchen largely depends on what material will be used for the manufacture of kitchen facades. It can be an aluminum or plastic profile, natural wood, MDF or ordinary chipboard. Which kitchen facade is best suited for your kitchen is not an easy question. What material is better to choose for itmanufacturing and what nuances should be taken into account - this is exactly what will be discussed in our article.
Kitchen facade made of chipboard
Budget type. Chipboard is compressed sawdust bonded with resin. It is he who is most often used for the manufacture of household and office furniture: cabinets, tables, cabinets, shelves, etc. It is almost always used to make cabinets for kitchen cabinets. What is the advantage of a kitchen facade made of chipboard? First of all, it is worth noting its affordable cost and a large number of colors, including those that imitate wood. An important advantage is the ability to "fit" furniture parts to the size right at the assembly site, which significantly increases the assembly time. Cons of this material: poor moisture tolerance, flat, extremely even appearance (without texture and milling) and restriction on the installation of handles (their choice is limited only to overhead).
MDF facades
The most common type. MDF is also compressed sawdust, but, unlike chipboard, they are smaller, and resins are not used to connect them, which increases their environmental friendliness. The kitchen facade made of this material can be covered with PVC film, special furniture enamel or natural veneer. It is much more diverse and stronger than the previous type, and besides, it is not afraid of moisture. Its structure is denser, and thanks to this, this material can be given a concave or slightly rounded shape at the ends, and with the help of milling, a stylish pattern can be made. Laminated MDF facades look very nice, the film of which “plays” in the sunlight. There is only one drawback - the higher cost compared to chipboard. In addition, it is almost impossible to remake such facades, and therefore all dimensions must be as accurate as possible.
Solid wood
The most expensive type. For the manufacture of such an elite facade, valuable tree species are used: cherry, ash, alder, acacia, walnut, etc. The service life, durability, quality compared to chipboard and MDF are much higher, but the price frankly “bites”, and not everyone can afford such a facade. In addition, such a material is demanding to care for, is afraid of mechanical damage and does not tolerate moisture and temperature extremes (cracks may appear).
Recommendations for selection
When choosing the type of facades, first of all, you need to pay attention to the operating conditions, low maintenance, appearance and cost. If the budget is limited, but you want something original, you can make some facades from an aluminum profile and with an insert of frosted or transparent glass. In addition, if chipboard facades are chosen, you can use different colors for the lower and upper cabinets, choose a thicker edge and order expensive fittings.
