Many bath lovers during its construction are concerned about the optimal ceiling height. How high should the ceiling in the bath be? According to experts, it is difficult to find an unambiguous answer to this question - different points of view should be considered. The height of the bath ceiling largely depends on the type of bath complex. For example, Russian baths have their own standards, while Finnish saunas have their own.
Sauna
When building a sauna, it is best to provide a ceiling slightly higher than human height. The sauna should be comfortable. The distance from the top shelf to the ceiling should fluctuate between 100-120 cm so that the person sitting on it does not bruise his head. Finnish sauna is not a Russian bath. The ceiling height here can be small (from 210 to 230 cm). After all, it is not customary to wave a broom in the sauna - you just need to sit on the shelf and warm yourself.
Russian bath
According to historical data, at the beginning of the 20th century, Russian baths were of impressive size. In the middle of the twentieth century, the ceiling in the bath was most often made low - about 170 cm. The reason for such an engineering trick was the banal saving of firewood.
Modern construction technologies (furnaces, heaters, vapor barrier) allow you to quickly warm up fairly large steam rooms and keep them warm for a long time. And given that today you can buy any building and finishing materials, the steam room must be done according to the rules.
And the rules say the following: in a Russian bath, steam should accumulate under the ceiling. In this case, the temperature difference in the lower and upper layers can be quite large, up to 50 degrees. In order to provide different degrees of heating, the shelves are arranged in several levels.
It is known that the bathing procedure (without cooling the steam room) will take longer if the ceilings in the bath are high. Therefore, the very three meters that Priorov recommended are not at all a luxury, but rather a necessity. If the ceiling in the bath is low, then the steam will quickly dissipate at the very first stroke of the broom. The owner of such a bath can take a long time to look for the reason for the rapidcooling the steam room - check the vapor barrier, look for cracks and structural punctures - but never find it. And it was only necessary to increase the height of the ceiling of the bath by 30-40 cm!

From what has been said, it is clear that there are no strict regulations regarding the height of bath ceilings. But they shouldn't be too low. There is another reason for this.
During bath procedures, the steam room is not ventilated. Therefore, the larger its volume, the more air with oxygen in it. This is very important for getting the healing effect from visiting the Russian bath.
