In suburban areas, houses with attics and balconies are often built today. Such buildings are distinguished by comfort and solid appearance. The layout of residential attics with balconies in country houses, of course, can be very different.

Types of attics with loggias

Buildings of this type are being erected according to various projects. However, there are only three main types of attics with a balcony:

  • with a remote gable loggia;
  • with a gable, equipped directly on the attic area;
  • with a pitched balcony.

All these types of loggias are built, of course, in compliance with certain rules, technologies and standards.

Attic with a "recessed" loggia

Lofts in country houses are often made habitable by their owners while the roof is being erected. The roof slopes in this case are insulated using, for example, mineral wool or polystyrene foam. Balconies in such attics can be equipped asduring the construction of the roof, as well as after the completion of the construction of the building.

In the first case, the loggia is usually arranged inside the roof. That is, the gable of the roof with such a layout is simply located at some distance from the plane of the facade of the building. In houses built according to such a project, the floor of the loggia is the ceiling of the lower floor. Attics with a balcony of this layout are inexpensive and are most often equipped in private homes.

Lofts with remote loggias

Sometimes the owners of a suburban residential building come to the decision to equip a balcony after it has been built. In this case, of course, changes can also be made to the configuration of the already finished attic by transferring the gable.

But most often, the owners of an already built house, who decide to equip a balcony, still act a little differently. In this case, a terrace is equipped next to the facade of the building. Above it, a balcony is subsequently arranged. In this case, the roof slopes are carried forward a little.

When arranging such a loggia, it is important to install, among other things, very strong pillars when building a terrace. After all, it is on them that the load from the balcony will subsequently fall.

Loggia on the slope

Most often, attics in country houses are supplemented with remote or "recessed" balconies from the side of the pediment. But sometimes a loggia on such roofs is also made on a slope. There are such attic projects with a balcony quite rarely. But in any case, buildings with loggias on the slope of the roof also look solid.and prestigious.

When arranging such a roof, the owners of country houses often use roof windows of a special design. Such double-glazed windows are installed between the rafters and have an additional extension, which subsequently plays the role of a loggia.

There are, of course, also projects of houses with an attic and a balcony on a slope, assembled from lumber. During the construction of such roofs, a truss system of a special design is usually mounted. At the same time, four additional strong racks are installed on the Mauerlat and two beams. Next, the two extreme walls of the balcony are sheathed and the parapet is mounted. At the final stage, a separate mini-roof is being built above the loggia.

A photo of a balcony in the attic, equipped on a slope using lumber, can be seen below. The design of such a loggia, as we see, is relatively simple.

Roof configuration

Attics with balconies can be equipped under roofs of various designs. Frontal loggias are mounted, of course, on gable roofs. Sometimes residential attics with such balconies can also be equipped on multi-gable roofs. On hip and hip roofs, for obvious reasons, only pitched balconies are equipped, of course. Such roofs simply do not have gables.

Attic design and decoration ideas

It is possible to arrange a room for almost any purpose in the insulated attic of a country house. Most often, bedrooms are equipped in the attics of private residential buildings. Such a room is designedof course, in most cases in soothing pastel colors. Thick curtains are hung on the window behind which there is a balcony in the attic bedroom or blinds are mounted. At the same time, such an attic is decorated most often in a modern style, country, chalet or Provence.

Quite often, children's rooms are also equipped in insulated attics. Such a room, of course, should be decorated quite brightly. The attic, on which the boy will later play, for example, can be decorated in a marine style. For a girl, of course, pink tones are more suitable.

Sometimes offices are also equipped in insulated attics. In this case, the attic is most often decorated in a classic style. A modern design with a lot of chrome and glass elements is also very good for an office in the attic.

Loggia design

How to make a balcony in the attic, we found out above. This design can be both gable and pitched. But how to properly and beautifully decorate the attic loggia? The design for the balcony in this case is chosen, of course, in accordance with the features of the decoration of the attic itself. For example, if the attic is decorated in country style, the floor of the loggia should be upholstered with a massive board. The parapet on such a balcony should also be wooden and very rough.

For the installation of chalet-style balconies, less massive materials are usually chosen. In this case, relatively rough balusters and railings are also installed. But the main emphasis in this style is still on the simplicity and "raw" materials.

Classic-style balconies are usually glazed. At the same time, the walls of the loggia are finished with decorative plaster, and the floors - with a massive board. If such a balcony is large, you can install, for example, a leather chair or sofa on it. The parapet of such a loggia can also be forged. Such houses with an attic and a balcony look, of course, the most solid.

The parapets of Provence-style loggias are made of wood. At the same time, they strive to ensure that the balusters and parapet look simple, but at the same time quite elegant and original.

What materials will be needed

Photos of houses with an attic and a balcony are presented to the attention of the reader on this page. As you can see, such buildings look very solid and impressive. And of course, such houses can be considered the most comfortable to live in. But how much can the arrangement of such an attic cost a private trader?

In order to equip such an attic, the owner of the house in any case will additionally need to purchase:

  • roof insulation materials;
  • fine cladding for the walls and floor of the attic itself;
  • lumber for a balcony (or finished pitched structure).

The cost of equipping a residential attic in the first place, of course, will depend on the area and size of the house itself. Calculations for the construction of such a structure can be made based on the cost of the materials required for this.

Cost calculation

Insulate roof slopes if desiredto equip a residential attic with a balcony, most often with mineral wool. Such material is sold in slabs of several pieces per pack. For example, a sufficiently high-quality TechnoNIKOL pitched wool for 2018 costs about 800 rubles. for 6 sheets 1200x600x100 mm.

For the arrangement of a portable gable or pitched balcony, of course, first of all, thick lumber will be needed. Pine board 150x100 mm costs about 800-900 rubles. for 1 piece 6 m long.

Residential attics are usually sheathed with clapboard or plastic panels. Sometimes drywall is also used for this purpose (with subsequent wall decoration with decorative plaster).

Clapboard costs about 150 rubles on the domestic market today. for 1 m2. Finishing 1 m2 of the attic with plastic panels will cost the owner of the house a little cheaper. One such lamella 3000x250x8 mm costs about 100-200 rubles. depending on the manufacturer and quality.

A drywall sheet 125x2500x1200 mm for attic sheathing will cost the owner of the house 150-200 rubles. 1 m2 decoration of decorative plaster, depending on the variety of the latter, costs about 400-800 rubles.

Additional costs

Expenses for the owner of the house, who wants to equip a residential attic with a balcony, thus, will be large. Specialists, for example, take about 500 rubles for the insulation of the attic, followed by lining with lining. for 1 m2 (with own materials).

That is, for example, just sheathing stingrays 8x6 m2 will cost the owner of the house when hiringbrigades in 24-25 thousand rubles. If you do the finishing with your own hands, you can meet, of course, in a smaller amount.

However, in any case, the owner of the house, who decides to equip such an attic, will additionally have to buy more:

  • roofing material for balcony roof;
  • vapor barrier film for attic slopes;
  • antifungal agents for wood treatment;
  • flooring, etc.

Also, it will be necessary to conduct electricity to the attic and equip it with ventilation. That is, for an amount of less than 30-35 thousand rubles. when arranging a residential attic under slopes of 8x6 m 2 it is not necessary to count.

Cost of a loggia

Roofs of houses with an attic and a balcony are thus quite expensive. Of course, the owner of the building in this case will need to spend money on the arrangement of the loggia itself. This design is also likely to cost the owner of the house not too cheap. Only a “recessed” balcony will not have a special impact on the cost of the attic. In this case, the owner of the house may have to separately purchase only double-glazed windows.

For a remote loggia, you will need to buy at least 4 thick beams for racks, thinner lumber for the balcony frame, floor sheathing, parapet, rafters. That is, the construction of such a structure will cost even if all the work is done by one's own hands, most likely at least 8-10 thousand rubles.
