A stamp (or seal) is a tool that can be used to apply a fixed image to various surfaces. If desired, you can make a stamp with your own hands. Such homemade stamps can be used for drawing designs on paper or fabrics, for playing with children, for decor and decoration.
Make your own seal
If necessary, you can make a stamp with your own hands at home. The process is not difficult. But keep in mind that the wear resistance of such an invention will be lower than that of a conventional die.
- First you need to prepare the image for printing. Next, the selected pattern must be transferred to tracing paper, and from there to the foil. At this stage, the outline of the drawing is carefully outlined with a non-sharp object (for example, a pencil).
- The pattern on the foil is printed in the form of depressions, which then need to be filled with putty or epoxy glue.
- Thus, a workpiece is obtained. It must be set aside until completely dry. This usually takes about two days.
- As soon as the workpiece dries, it needsfree from foil. For convenience, an impression of a stamp must be attached to the base. An old seal or any board with a handle will do for this.
The handmade stamp is ready. It remains only to place it in ink or paint and you can leave an imprint.
Handmade stamps
You can also make simpler versions of seals. For this, various improvised means are suitable. Here are some of the simplest options:
- Printing from an eraser. You need to choose an eraser of a suitable size, draw a drawing on it with a pencil. Then, using a clerical knife, cut out the image. In this case, the base of the eraser remains the same size, and the drawing itself protrudes slightly on the surface.
- In the same way, you can make a stamp with your own hands from cork. Just keep in mind that in this case, the contours and density of the pattern may differ due to the nature of the material (the cork is looser).
- Suitable for making print and cardboard. Various patterns can be cut out of it, which are then attached to a convenient surface (the same cork will do). The finished drawing can be dipped in paint and printed.
- To apply simple patterns or geometric shapes, you can use any object. For example, using caps of different diameters, circles can be applied. In this case, simply dip the edges into the paint, and then attach to the surface.
It is enough to show imagination andmany other stamping possibilities can be found.
Vegetables and fruits stamp
For those who do not know how to make a stamp with their own hands from improvised means, you can use the simplest option: make stamps from vegetables or fruits that can be found in the house.
It all depends on the density and structure of the selected product.
- For example, you can easily make a stamp from a potato with your own hands, just like you can make a stamp from an eraser or a cork. The vegetable is cut into pieces and a pattern is cut out on the cut.
- You can cut out hearts, stars, animal paw prints and more.
- Other vegetables on the cut form a certain pattern (for example, onions). It can be printed without further processing.
Such simple patterns can be used to decorate children's clothes or other surfaces.
Decorative Concrete Stamp
Concrete stamping is a great opportunity to apply any pattern to this durable material. Thanks to this technique, you can diversify the appearance of the territory. On an industrial scale, special blanks are used.
For small areas or for personal use, you can make your own concrete stamp.
Various materials are suitable for this: wood, plastic, polystyrene, etc. A figure of the desired shape is cut out of it, which is then applied to concrete and forms a pattern.
This way you can createimitation of a tile or other pattern. In this case, special pigments can be used to color the concrete.
It should be borne in mind that only concrete that has not yet hardened can be stamped. But it shouldn't be too liquid. It is also necessary to mark the territory and pre-calculate how the drawing will be applied.
As a result, the pattern should be aesthetic, with smooth edges. It is advisable to apply it with approximately the same pressure.
So, making a stamp with your own hands is not difficult, just show your imagination.
