Enjoying the perfect design of a room can be prevented by a mere trifle - the bright sun. It seems that everything is thought out, the colors are chosen, the furniture is arranged and all the decor elements are in place, but the sunlight does not allow you to relax and makes you want to turn your back to the window. This, of course, is unpleasant, but not all is lost. You can install wooden blinds on the windows and not only save yourself from intrusive light, but also give the window additional expressiveness.
Dignity of natural material
If your choice is fabric, plastic or metal blinds, then the window will also be reliably protected from bright light, but it is wood that is a natural and completely environmentally friendly material. The only drawback of wood is the high price, but in the case of window protection systems, the amounts are not large enough to refuse a stylish purchase.
The main advantages that wooden blinds have on windows are as follows:
- High opacity.
- Eco-friendly material.
- Design durability.
- Aesthetic.
- Variety of colors.
- Variety of constructive and designsolutions.
Jalousies made of wood give the room a special chic and comfort. Natural material will unobtrusively emphasize the respectability and good taste of the owners.
Varieties of designs
Wooden blinds can be of two types: horizontal and vertical. In the horizontal design, the slats are parallel to the floor, in the vertical design, they are perpendicular.
Another difference is the way the blinds are attached. The design can have an inter-frame fastening, that is, it can be fixed between the window sashes, and an internal fastening, that is, it will be fixed indoors on a special cornice.
Wooden slats can have different widths. Horizontal options can be up to 50 mm wide. Vertical - much wider, from 90 to 130 mm.
Self installation structure
Do-it-yourself installation is usually chosen as the most economical option, but in the case of wooden blinds this is not entirely true. Homeowners choose and install themselves when they want a truly unique sun protection system.
To make wooden blinds with your own hands, you will need the following materials:
- planks of wood of required thickness and width;
- durable cord;
- self-tapping screws for fastening;
- electric drill and drills;
- lacquer and stain (color pigment) for processing.
The work begins with measuring the window opening and counting the required number of slats. Whereinit is taken into account that the plates will overlap each other by about 1 cm.
If necessary, they are sanded, stained and varnished. After drying, holes for the cord are drilled: two on the sides and one in the center.
The cord through the side holes should be 30 cm longer than the total height of the blinds. The cord threaded through the central hole is equal to twice the height of the window.
The bottom bar should be fixed at the ends of the cord. Now you need to step back 4 cm and tie the knots so that they are larger than the holes in the lamellas. The next plank rests on the nodes, and so on until the end.
The assembled canvas is fixed on top of the window frame or wall above the window. This is done as follows: in the upper part of the frame or on the wall, special fasteners are mounted on which a cornice bar is laid. The side cords are thrown over the bar, on which the lamellas are assembled, and tied. In fact, your wooden blinds are installed. The central cord, after being thrown over the bar, is fixed in the form of a loop (you can instead attach a decorative heavy object to the thrown end of the cord). The central cord performs a regulating function - it controls the degree of lifting.
Design care
Caring for the structure is not difficult at all. To maintain cleanliness, it is enough to wipe the wooden blinds with a dry brush or cloth. Sometimes a cloth napkin can be slightly moistened with water. If desired, you can clean the slats with a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush.
Try yourself in the roledesigner. Wooden blinds on the windows of your home will be a great addition to the interior and make it perfect.
